WILLIS A. AKRIDGE DIES IN HOSPITAL

WHITEWRIGHT -- Funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Earnheart Funeral Chapel for Willis A. Akridge, 71, a retired farmer in Desert community who died in a Sherman hospital Wednesday at 1:45 a.m.
Rev. Howard Holland, pastor of Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, and Rev. Lee H. Smith, pastor of Whitewright Presbyterian Church, will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Cloy Horton, John Reeves, Robert Sears, Bryon Caraway, Wallace Caraway, Tom Brooks, Jeff Wooldridge, and Fred Coo Sr.  Burial will be in Cross Roads Cemetery.
Mr. Akridge was born in Desert community, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Akridge.  He had lived in the same house 46 years.  He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Nora Fletcher Akridge; two daughters, Mrs. Rosco Pace of Denison and Mrs. Paul Cook of Whitewright; a brother, Jodie Akridge of Desert; a grandson, Harold Pace Sr. of Sherman, and a great grandson.


WHITEWRIGHT -- Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Earnheart Funeral Home for Mrs. Nora Akridge, 82, widow of W. A. Akridge.  She died Wednesday at 7:10 a.m. in a Sherman hospital.
Dr. Charles Ramsey, of Austin College, and minister at the Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, will conduct the services.  Rev. C. C. Dooley of Whitewright, Presbyterian minister, will assist.  Burial will be in Cross Roads Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday night.
Mrs. Akridge was born Sept. 4, 1885, in Collin County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Fletcher.  On Nov. 10, 1902, she married Mr. Akridge in Desert.  He died in 1954.  She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors are two daughters; Mrs. Roscoe Pace of Denison and Mrs. Paul Cook of Whitewright; and a grandson, Harold W. Pace Sr.; and a great-grandson, both of Grand Prairie.
