Thursday, September 28, 1961 pg. 1 Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, south of Whitewright, for James Wilson Gordon, 84 of Rt. 1. Conducting ministers were Dr. Charles Ramsey of Sherman and Rev. C.C. Dooley of Whitewright. Burial was in Cross Roads Cemetery. Mr. Gordon died suddenly of a heart attack in his pickup truck while stopped in the intersection of Hwys. 69 and 160, near the Edwards Chevrolet Co. Born April 25, 1877 in the Desert community, Mr. Gordon was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Gordon. On September 30, 1906 he married Miss Pearlie Mae Vernon. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and was well known in singing convention circles. Survivors are his wife; 2 sons, Vernon Gordon of Whitewright and Bill Gordon of Denison; a brother, Dixie Gordon of Denison; a sister, Mrs. W.A. Donaldson of Ravenna; and 2 grandchildren.
