Ella M. Williams-Orr 12 June 1894 - 1 March 1990 Mrs. Ella M. Williams Orr was born July 12, 1894 to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Butler Williams in Bonham, Texas. After the death of her parents, she moved to Van Alstyne, Texas where she received her formal education in the public schools there. Her religious activities began at a very early age, when she professed a hope in Christ and united with the Morning Chapel C.M.E. Methodist Church at Van Alstyne, Texas. On January 11, 1910, she was united in holy wedlock to Mr. William Kennison Orr and to that union fourteen children were born; seven boys and seven girls. Husband and five children preceded her in death. Names are as follows: sons, John L., Walter L., and Franklin D. Orr; daughters, Dassie D. Orr, Dorothy R. Carter. Survivors: sons, Robinson Orr of Van Alstyne, Texas; Darrell Orr of Sherman, Texas; James Douglas Orr of Newark, New Jersey; Cleo Orr of Dallas, Texas; daughters, Katherine, Gerline Orr, Sarah J. Etchison, Helen C. Davis, all of Dallas, Texas; Lillian Janice Mitchell of Marshall, Texas; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends. Her demise came Thursday, March 1, 1990 at Baylor Hospital. Van Alstyne Leader Thursday, April 9, 1970 Services for Miss Dassie Orr of Dallas, a former resident of Van Alstyne, were held Monday, April 6, at 1 p.m. in the CME Methodist Church of Van Alstyne with Rev. Kirkpatrick officiating. Pallbearers were Luke Murphy, Hershel Jackson, Howard Crockett, Claude McKinney, Melton Hawkins, and Royce Everett. Miss Orr was born in Van Alstyne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kennison Orr. Interment was in Cannon Cemetery with Crawford Undertaking in charge. Cleo Orr died June 7, 2010. He was born March 26, 1925 in Van Alstyne, Texas. He is survived by one brother, Darrell Orr of Van Alstyne; 3 sisters, Katherine Orr, Helen Davis and Lillian Mitchell, all of Dallas. Funeral services were held Friday, June 11, 2010 at Lott's Mortuary Chapel, Dallas. Burial followed in Cannon Cemetery, Van Alstyne, Texas.
