Emma S. Spears 21 May 1875 - 28 November 1890 d/o N. M. & M. E. Spears Emma
S. Spears, daughter of Noah M. and Margaret E. Spears, was born in
Franklin County, Tennessee, May 21, 1875 and died in Grayson County,
Texas, November 24 1890. Emma was a good, sweet-spirited girl.
But few possess as much of the spirit of Christ as did Emma.
She was brought up in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
She professed religion in her tenth year and joined the M.E.
Church, South, and lived a true, devoted Christian unti ldeath removed
her to her reward in Heaven. She was a dutiful daughter and a
loving sister - always ready to do something for her Master. She
loved her Church, and always filled her place in church and Sunday
school. I was with her in a protracted meeting a few months ago.
Very few of riper years labored more earnestly for the salvation
of sinners than she. She will be missed, both in Church and
Sunday school. Her classmates will miss her, her teacher will
miss her, and her grief-stricken father, 3 sisters and brother will
miss her. In the providence of God she was taken from us while
yet in the bloom of youth. While it is a sore grief to give her
up, yet we must submit to the divine hand. Her sickness was slow
fever, which continued for 3 weeks. She endured it with great
patience. J.K. McMillan
