Pearl Austin Smith

Miss Pearl Austin was born on August 5, 1902, and passed into rest May 11, 1926, being at the time of her death, 23 years, 9 months and 6 days old.
Four years ago, under the ministry of Rev. Leo Johnston, she professed faith in Christ and lived a devoted Christian until the end came. She was a most beautiful character. Her friends were numbered among those who knew her. During a long illness, she never mourned or complained, but was always pleasant and smiling.
A few years ago, Miss Austin was married to Herbert Smith, by whom she is survived with a baby girl.  As wife, as neighbor and as friend, she was all that could be expected and was held in the highest possible esteem by a host of friends among the people of the Jameson community and wherever she was known.
Funeral services were held at the Cannon cemetery on Wednesday, May 12th, conducted by Rev. Leo Johnston and Rev. C.B. Fielder of Van Alstyne, and attended by a large gathering of friends who sorrowed with the family and relatives as the men of God paid tribute to the life and character of this splendid woman.  Interment was had at the Cannon cemetery.
Surviving Mrs. Smith are her husband, Herbert Smith; a baby girl, Wilmetha Smith; a brother, Royce Austin; a sister, Mrs. Opal Clack; and other relatives to whom the sympathy of all of their friends goes out.
Pallbearers were as follows:
Active - Tom Middleton, Lee Fields, Willard Clack, Moore Clayton, Shird Huddleston, Jim Skipworth.
