Shaw 2 Jul 1871 - 14 May 1941 Van Alstyne Leader February 21, 1947 P1 John Shaw Found Dead In Bed Early Saturday Morning Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. for John Shaw, 77, retired groceryman, who was found dead in his room about 10 a.m. Saturday by John B. Goren. He had been in ill health for some time. Rev. William Greenhaw, Methodist minister of Leonard and Rev. J. M. Simpson, minister of the Van Alstyne First Methodist Church conducted the services. Burial was in the Cannon cemetery under the direction of Fox-Fanning Funeral Home. Mr. Shaw was born July 2, 1869 at Montgomery, Alabama. Survivors include four daughters: Mrs. Ed Phariss, Breckenridge, Texas, Miss Neva Shaw, Dallas; Mrs. Paul A. Johns, San Antonio; Mrs. Robert Shearidan, Leonard. Three sons, Emerson Shaw, Santa Clara, Calif.; W. N. Shaw, Dallas; Earl Shaw, San Jose, Calif. Ten grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
