F. W. "Wick" Akin
1877 - 1953

Florence Wick Akin passed away at his home in Dallas Saturday. He lived in Dallas the past fifteen months since moving to Dallas from Van Alstyne. He was a retired farmer.
Funeral services were conducted at the Fox-Flesher Funeral Chapel here Sunday afternoon at two o'clock by Rev. Herman F. Mayo. Arrangements were in charge of the Fox-Flesher Funeral Home. Interment was in the Cannon Cemetery.
Mr. Akin was born on June 8, 1876, the son of the late John Robert Akin. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mattie Jane Akin of Dallas; by one daughter, Mrs. John Jackson of Dallas; and by three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, two sisters, and four brothers.

Howe - services for Mrs. Mattie Jane Akins, 89-year-old Howe housewife who died Thursday at Chapel of care Nursing Home in Sherman will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Flesher Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne.
Dr. Jim Koonce of the First Baptist Church will officiate and burial will be in Cannon Cemetery east of Van Alstyne.
Mrs. Akins was born in Texas, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Roper and married Florence Wick Akins on March 4, 1911.  She was a Baptist.
Surviving are her sisters: Ida Bangs of Van Alstyne and Pearl Gibson of Howe; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
