Jimmy Rogers 25 February 1937 - 19 April 2022 Rita Louise Rogers 7 April 1927 - 12 October 1985 Jimmy Rogers, born February 25, 1937, one of 9 children born to Mack and Ethel Rogers in Hutchins, Texas. He passed away in Van Alstyne, Texas after calling it home for over 50 years on April 19, 2022 at the age of 85. He is survived by his step-children: Alma Averial Jackson; Dianna Ratcliff Dean and husband, David; Rodney Ratcliff and wife, Susan; and LaDonna Ratcliff. Also by 12 grandchildren: Camaren Leatherwood, Elizabeth Pritchett and Sean Pritchett; Daniel Jones, Dana Jones, Richard Underwood and Rodney Underwood, Rocky Ratcliff, Tamara Ratcliff, Grant Ratcliff, Whitney Falcon and Warren Schultz. Also by 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita Easton Rogers in October of 1985 and his second wife, Ruth Jay Rogers in December 2015. While serving his country in the Army, he was stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado until his honorable discharge in December 1965. After his discharge from the Army, he started working for the City of Dallas. Starting in the sanitation department, then moving to Dallas Transit, which we now know as DART. He worked his way up from a bus washer to a Maintenance and Transportation Supervisor. Through Dallas Transit, he acquired an Associate's Degree in Management. Upon his retirement of over 25 years of services in 1997, he and Ruth enjoyed fishing, trips to Las Vegas and Choctaw, playing the penny slots and listening to their favorite country music performers. He also lived to till the land and garden, as evidenced by the lush trees and foliage surrounding his home. Jimmy was most often a quiet, unassuming man that worked hard and cared for his family and friends. He was loved by many and respected by all. He will be missed. A graveside service was held Saturday afternoon, April 23, 2022 at the Cannon Cemetery, Van Alstyne, Texas with Rev. J. Rand Certain officiating.
