Harold Purdom, 82, passed away Friday, July 27, 2012 in Sherman,
Texas. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne, Texas with Bro. Steve Sweeney and Bro. Buddy Cole officiating. Burial will follow in the Cannon cemetery east of Van Alstyne. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Scoggins Funeral Home. Ray was born July 26, 1930 in Sherman, Texas to Riley and Amanda Endula Purdom, he married Patricia Ann Bray March 21, 1953 in Van Alstyne, Texas. . Mr. Purdom served his country in the United States Army during the Korean war. A graduate of Van Alstyne High School, he retired from the Dallas Fire Department and Freeman Decorating after 30 years of service. Ray was a member of the First Baptist church in Weston, Texas. Ray is survived by his son; Ray Purdom, son and his wife; Tony and Tina Purdom, daughter; Beverly Purdom, daughter and her husband Julia and Jeff Atkins, brothers and their wives; James and Sandra Purdom, Frank and Jo Ann Purdom, Paul and Eddy Lee Purdom, Bob and June Purdom; sister; Patsy Ireland and husband Ned. 11 Grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann, parents Riley and Amanda Purdom, and brother; Joe Purdom.
