  John Lee Atkins 13 January 1900 - 5 November 1944  MORTUARY Anna, Texas - Joe Lee Atkins, 44, died Sunday morning at his home on Route 1, following an illness of 3 months. Funeral services were held Monday at the Pentecostal church in the Coffman community, west of Anna, with Rev. Leonard Brown conducting, assisted by Rev. Ray Graves. Interment was in Cannon Cemetery. Born January 18, 1900 at Celina, Tennessee, Mr. Atkins was the son of Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Atkins. HIs wife is the former Miss Nancy Murley. Pallbearers were Floyd Grant, Charles Brown, Charles Bateman, Carl Evans, Ed McGuppey and Mr. Watson. Survivors include his wife and 3 children - WIllie Joe, Joyce Christine and Neva; his mother, Mrs. E.J. Atkins; 4 brothers, A.V. Atkins, Bill Atkins of Anna; J.T. Atkins of Melissa; and C.E. Atkins of Anna; 2 sisters, Mrs. E.D. Davidson of Anna and Mrs. George Harris of Arkansas.  1924 - 1925   Born
Nancy Jane Murley, the third daughter born to William Albert Murley
& Alma Lee Sims. Nancy was born in Burksville,
Kentucky. She moved with her parents to Celina, Tennessee when
she was two years old and on to Anna, Collin County, Texas in
1919. Nancy married Joe Lee Atkins on January 3, 1925. Living in and around Anna, Texas she had four children: Georgia Lee Atkins ~ November 21, 1925 - March 24, 1929 (cause of death: kidney disease) Neva Dee Atkins ~ May 17, 1927 - January 18, 2008 (cause of death: ovarian cancer); married Eugene Bell December 26, 1945, who died March 5, 1987. They had two children, Sherry Lynn Bell & Randy Gene Bell. Willie Joe Atkins ~ November 27, 1933 - June 29, 1992 (cause of death: esophagus cancer); married Corene Hughes, June 1961. Corene at this writing is living in Lake Dallas, Texas. They had one son, Nickey Joe Atkins. Joyce Christene Atkins ~ April 14, 1942; married William Paul Law March 1961 in Fort Worth, Tarrant Co., Texas They have two sons, David Paul Law & Gary Michael Law. Joyce & William at this writing are living in Burleson, Texas. Following the death of Joe Lee Atkins, Nancy married Gus Smith from Sadler, Texas in June 1950.
