BEECHER MILLER

Luther Stapleton, barber, owned The Star Barber Shop, located on Main Street, for whom Beecher Miller worked. The building was two stories and the upper floor was where men drank and met women. According to his distant niece, Katrina Dawn Miller, Beecher took a few swigs of Bay Rum throughout the day! He apparently was a heavy drinker.
In 1940 Beecher & Eva resided at 230 N. Austin Avenue; Beecher was barber at 114 S. Rusk Avenue.

Beecher Miller died in 1957 and is buried in Cedarlawn Cemetery. When he passed, he had a Chihuahua named "Nubin", Naa-bin, as in "little". His wife gave the dog to his Aunt Liz and grandmother along with Nubin's favorite chair, pillow, and popcorn. They had the dog until his passing. At that time, the two women relations lived in the "corner" hosue at the corner of Carl Umphress' and then US 75, now Hwy. 5. Eva Miller later moved in with her sisters at the corner of Rigsby and now Van Alstyne Parkway (FM 121).
