Oct 1 - Charley Scott, the young man who was killed by a freight train at Muskogee, I.T., was buried in the city.

Oct 2 - A Democratic rally was held at the City Hall.

Oct 3 - A telegram was received from Eurecka Springs, Arkansas, announcing the death of Jack Gallagher.

Oct 8 - William Waltz, an old Denisonian, died....W.W. Bostwick, successor to John Wilkinson, jeweler, presented the Democratic club with a life size bust of Cleveland.

Oct 9 - Capt. Kretsinger received notice from Adjuntant General that thirty new Springfield rifles would be shipped to the Denison Rifles.

Oct 11 - A book and confectionery store was opened up by Kirk Fairbanks.

Oct 17 - Born to Mr. and Mrs. Gillian, a baby boy.

Oct 18 - Mr. John Hanna and Miss Sallie Little were married at the Presbyterian Church by Rev. H.S. Litle.

Oct 19 - Chas. B. Green, the postal clerk who was paralyzed a couple of weeks ago, died.

Oct 21 - Miss Jessie Simonson, aged twenty-one years, died very suddenly....Mr. Ed. Burch, an ex-member of the Gate City Base Ball Club, died at the Thompson House with typhoid fever.

Oct 22 - Zoe Frost, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Hannah, aged one year, died.

Oct 23 - James J. Campbell, an old citizen of Denison, died of hemorrhage of the lungs at the age of fifty years....Mr. W.J. Stanford and Miss Waters were married by Father Logue.

Oct 25 - Excavation was commenced for the foundation of a large two-story addition to be built to Tignor & Mosse's wagon and implements works.

Oct 26 - The Hon. Henry W. Grady, proprietor of the Atlanta, Ga., Constitution, X. Norton president of the Louisville & Nashville Railway, and several distinguished persons from Georgia, passed through the city, en route to the Indian Territory on a special train, to take a look at that beautiful country....The Republicans had a grand rally at the opera house. Col. Bob Taylor, of Bonham, and Dr. Acheson, of this city, were the orators....Mr. Boswick, proprietor of the Gate City Jewelry store, presented the Harrison & Morton club with a bust of Harrison.
