Aug 3 - Mrs. Rebecca Hall, of Verons, Missouri, died at the residence of James Payton....Dr. Geo. Williams, aged fifty-five years, died.

Aug 4 - Phil W. Conway, leader of the Denison Rifles Band, died.

Aug 5 - W.A. Johnson, city editor of the Evening Journal, and Miss Nora Sullivan were married.

Aug 12 - Mrs. C.C. Chamberlain died in Sherman.

Aug 13 - The Denison Rifles went to Dallas.

Aug 14 - Martha, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Hildebrand, aged eleven years, died.

Aug 20 - A new saloon was opened by Culver & Hamilton.

Aug 24 - A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Majors.

Aug 27 - Capt. W.O. Kretsinger, of the Denison Rifles, was elected Colonel of the Fifth Regiment at a meeting held in Mineola.

Aug 28 - John Harnest purchased the Excelsior livery stable.

Aug 29 - Mr. T.Z. Williams and Miss Laura Bray were married by Rev. Corkill.

Aug 30 - John R. Carr, one of the oldest citizens of Denison, died.

Aug 31 - Ona, the little five-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Turley, died.
