Go down about 2 miles and there sits the old Glade Chapel Cemetery
Inventory of Glade Chapel Cemetery was done about 1975 by Leonard Bryan Payne,
who was born right by Glade Chapel Cemetery
The next inventory was taken by Maxine Gibbs Bettis and her Father, James Gibbs
about 25 years ago
There are 29 other broken markers in the fenced area
As you can see, there are some VERY old markers and graves here and MANY, MANY
missing ones
Glade Chapel Cemetery is in bad need of some TLC

According to Maxine Gibbs Bettis, per her father James Gibbs, this cemetery had at one time about 200 graves. When she and her father took this inventory, over 20 years ago, many of the original markers were broken and thrown into a ditch. Sometime in the mid-1970's some descendants put up a fence around the remaining markers, about 17.
The cemetery is by the Old Property of Elbert and Sarah Rachel Yates Gibbs. They came to Texas originally from Pickens County, Alabama. Elbert was a Confederate Soldier, 40th Al Inf. Co A. They moved after the war to Winston County, Mississippi, then to Falls County, Texas about 1888. Sarah's sister, Mary Snider, also came with them.
Elbert and
Sarah's children all lived around them in the old Glade Chapel Community: Rhoda
Jane Simmons Gibbs (daughter-in-law). She owned a cafe with Bert Griffen
off 7 East by Kosse in the early 1900's. Eugenia Lois Griffen Bridge, Lena Payne
Davidson, Henry Martin Davidson, and My Great-Great Grandfather, their oldest
son, George Thomas Gibbs, who came to Texas with his parents and 4 little girls,
his wife, Martha having died young in Mississippi. Father of Vera Mae
Gibbs Barnett, wife of Levi Jackson Barnett.
