William Flowers, b. 1831 in Mississippi, d. April 17, 1870 in Texas - was a son of Andrew Jackson and Catharine (Collier) Flowers, natives of North Carolina who married in Mississippi. William came to Wilson County, Texas with his parents and siblings about 1853. They moved to Gonzales County, Texas, where William Flowers was married November 13, 1856 to Hannah Elizabeth Gillett, b. May 11, 1842 in Texas, d. January 3, 1923 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas and buried there in Calvary Cemetery-a daughter of Methodist Minister, Reverend Roswell Gillett, b. 1809 in Kentucky, and his wife, Martha S. (Bowles) Gillett, b. 1815 in Missouri-early settlers in Texas (the Mexico), who resided in Grimes County, Texas in 1850.
After the Civil War, the Flowers family moved to the Reagan area of Falls County, Texas, with other relatives locating at Bruceville, McLennan County.
William and Hannah Elizabeth (Gillett) Flowers were the parents of eight children:
Andrew Dana Flowers, b. March 224, 1858 in Texas-married Nora Jones, and reared
on son: Ernest Andrew Flowers, who married Eula Wilson.
Martha Catharine Flowers, b. 1859-married in 1878 to William Henry Clay
Sheihagen, and had eleven children.
George Henry Flowers, b. 1861-married in 1887 to Mary Summers, and had four
daughters.
John Morgan Flowers, b. 1862-married Ethel McClellan, and had no children.
William Harvey Flowers, b. 1864-married in 1897 to Lula Canarian, and had five
children.
Annie Theodora Flowers, b. 1865-married in 1883 to William Johnson, and had five
children.
Valura Ida Flowers, b. 1867-married J. B. McCaleb (called "Buck"), and had six
children.
Everett Robert Flowers, b. 1869-married Margaret Ward, and had five children.
On July 15, 1873 in Falls County, Texas, Hannah Elizabeth (Gillett) Flowers was
married second to William Henry Clay Johnson, b. February 24, 1825 in Tennessee,
d. May 1893 at Reagan, Texas. He and Hannah lived in his log cabin at Reagan,
where six of their seven children were born.
