WALLACE/BRADFORD - Does any
one know of a Marriage of any Wallis/Wallace to Mary Bradford either in
NC or VA pre 1730. There is a deed from Beasuview Wallis and His wife Mary
and Thomas Bradford to William Daniel for land in Halifax Co, NC on Burncoat
swamp They( Wallis and Bradford) live in Craven Co, SC and the land and
William Daniel is in NC 7 Feb 1775. I suspect Mary was a Bradford and the
land was from her and Thomas Father. This would fit with the Thomas Bradford
(wife Sarah) who died in Hancock Co, GA in 1811 and whom I suspect was
the Thomas Bradford who owned Bradford Springs in Sumter Co, SC in 1770.
He was illiterate and so was his wife in the deeds in NC and Will in Hancock
Co, GA. I also suspect the Thomas Bradford of Sumter Co,SC was too. But
the records have been destroyed for that period.

DAVIS - I am researching
my family and have traced my roots to Sumter County. I am looking for any
record of Dianna Davis, black female, 75. She is listed on the 1880 census,
Sumter County, Middleton Township, enumeration District 118. She lived
with her son, Albert Davis, black male, 48, and his wife, Dantry, black
female, 45. Dianna is also listed under the surname Colclough on the 1870
census. I suspect they all died in Sumter County. I checked the 1860 census
and discovered there were only a few planters in Sumter County, named Colclough
who owned slaves. They were: Francis S. Colclough, Willam A. Colclough,
J.H. or W. Colclough, and Elizabeth Colclough. I would be interested in
knowing if there are any records available that I could look at. Any assistance
would be greatly appreciated. April 30, 2000
