1784 (in NC?), living in Sumter Co. about 1810 to at least 1860, father
of Samuel Edwin Dickey Johnson. Looking for information on Harper, his
wife Sarah Unknown, and Samuel's siblings. I have information on Samuel
who married Margaret McBride of Sumter Co. about 1843 or so. Would like
to connect Margaret to her family in Sumter. I am direct descendant.

CONNORS- My husband's ggggrandfather was
Charles Connors, Esq., planter in Sumter Co. before the Civil War. Charles
fought in the Revolutionary War and his sons, William John Thomas Harvey,
Charles Peter and Matthew Henry fought in the Civil War. I am trying to
trace Charles's parents: One source I have states that "Charles Connors
of Clarendon was a soldier of Marion's Brigade. The name was then written
'Conyers'. The mother of Charles Connors was a Benoist of the French Hugenots
of St. Stephen's Parish. His wife was Anne, daughter of William McConnico.
Does anyone have information on Charles Connors's parents or siblings?

STUCKEY- I am searching for Stuckeys who
left S.C. and moved to Alabama in 1820; and then on to Arkansas by 1870;
into Montague County, Texas by 1880 and finally into Love County, Ok. One
Stuckey was a William M. Stuckey b. in Sumter, S.C. and was listed
in the 1880 census as being 83 years of age and was living in the household
of his son-in-law David Moore in Illinois Bend, Texas.

He married Leah last name?. His father may have served with Francis Marion.
Jesse may have been disowned for marrying Leah, a serving girl in the father's

related to the families of John James Scurry and William David and Rosa
Viola Thigpen Scurry. John James Scurry was born ca 1840 in Sumter County,
and appears to have been married to (1) Jessie _______, and (2) Esther
Elizabeth Jones. One of their sons was William David Scurry b. 13 Feb,
1876 in Clarendon Co., SC; m. ca 1901 Rosa Viola Thigpen (daughter of Franklin
W. and Eleanora Baker Thigpen); d. 18 April, 1947 in Sumter, SC; buried
in the cemetary at Home Branch Baptist Church in Paxville, SC. Any information
on the family is appreciated, and I am glad to share what I have as well.

of Della Franklin b. Sumter County abt 1887. She married Grover Cleveland
Leech and moved to Macon, Ga. My husband's mother Iris Gabrella Leech was
born a twin May 16 1909 In Lexington Co. S. C. I understand Della's family
disinherited her when she married. Any help would be appreciated.

TAYLOR/ NETTLES- Looking for any info on John
Taylor Born about 1798 in SC. Married a Mary, children ; Columbus, Franklin,Joel,
James, Joseph, Tip, Haywood, and Zacharriah. Probablythers. Columbus' CSA
pension states that he was born in Sumter in 1827, the family moved to
Ga in 1833. They settled in Randolph Co Ga. I find a John on the Sumter
1830 census that may match. I also find a will of John Taylor died about
1820, I believe this may be John's Father. The will names the children
as John, Haysten, Asa, Tyler, Harvey, Tabitha, Milford, Leonard, Sion and
Rebecca. Wife was Margret. Any info on any of these Taylor children would
be great. He also mentions friends Jesse and John Nettles .The will is
witness by James Canty and Mary McKeller. I'd apprecaite any leads one
could provide.

LOCKE- I am researching the LOCKE family which
lived in Charleston and Sumter, SC. George Augustus LOCKE was b. in Lexington,Mass.
abt 1817 he m. Lucretia BOWKER/BENTON in Charleston in abt 1840. They had
Ann, Carolyn and Harry LOCKE. Lucretia died in 1867 in Sumter, SC. Does
anyone know if the other family members were with her then? What happened
to them afterwards? Thanks in advance.

COLCLOUGH- I am looking for information on
COLCLOUGHs of Sumter County, SC. They were there abobut 1900 - 1930. I
am looking for my grandmother's family. My grandmmother was name Adeline(Adline)
Colclough. Her brother was named Thomas Colclough and he had several sons
and daughters. Judging from when my father was born, I think may my grandmother
may have been born between 1910 thru 1915. I think the family may have
been the Sumter/Dazell area around 1900 - 1920. I believe that the Colcloughs
may have been the last owners of my family.

VILLENEUVE- Sara J. Villeneuve, widow of Joseph
H. Villeneuve of Chas. and Chesterfield Co, moved her family to Sumter
Twp, Sumter, SC ca 1875. They are listed in the 1880 census as living on
Main St. She was 42 years old and had the following children at that time
John W (20), Hattie E (13), Lorenz Stoppelbein (11), Charles L. (8), and
Joseph (6).
DUFFIN / VILLENEUVE on 13 Oct , 1841, Mrs Margaret E VILLENEUVE (widow)
marrried Mr Samuel A. Duffin of the Sumter Distr. They were married in
the St John's Lutheran Church in Charleston. It is not known whether Mrs
VILLENEUVE brought children with her to Sumter.
VILLENEUVE/STOPPELBEIN There are a number of connections between
the Villeneuve family and Sumter Co. In the mid 1800's Stoppelbein women
married into the Moise and Hurst families from Sumter. The mother of these
women was a VILLENEUVE.
I would like to find any information on these families and their
connection to the Sumter District.

McCOY/McKAY- I am desperately searching for
Samuel McCoy/McKay's father. Samuel was b. 1780 and d. 1846 in Mississippi.
He was a Mehodist minister. He married his first wife (Elizabeth B.) in
SC in 1798. His children born in SC were Elias M., Elijah Bond, and Elizabeth.

between LOWRY and McCASKILL about 1800 in Sumter. The name McCaskill starts
being used about that time in the Lowry line. It could have been James
Lowry (b.1819) who married Eliza (McCaskill?)(b.1821) or an earlier liason.

was born in 1886 in SUMTER OR DARLINGTON, S. C. but was raised in Sumter.

McGEORGE/WHITE/HOWARD - Searching desperately
for the following family: Elizabeth White and they had a daughter, Elizabeth
McGeorge who "married a Captain in the Marine Corp" according to my grand
uncle. Columbus died on Sept. 22, 1978 at the VA Medical Center in Columbia,
Richland Co., SC. At that time, he and his wife lived at 530 Pinewood Rd.,
in Sumter, Sumter Co., SC. Is this house still there? He also served in
the Armed Forces and was an insurance salesman. Any military records available?
The social security number on the death certificate differs from the one
found on the social security death index disc.Shelley-Brunson (on Liberty
St. in Sumter) handled funeral arrangements and he was laid to rest at
the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Sumter. Has his wife since passed
away and could she be buried next to or near Columbus? Do not have an obituary.
Any clues or leads you can provide will be greatly appreciated. I must
find the daughter Elizabeth who "married a Captain in the Marine Corp."
