George E. Manville Furniture and Undertaking is listed in business in 1887 on page 48 of Historical Willoughby 1853-1953 Centennial Celebration. It also has an advertisement in The Willoughby Independent on Friday March 12, 1897 on page 2.
George Manville is listed in the census as Undertaker, Furniture in 1900 and as an undertaker with employees in 1910. He lived at 46 River Street in 1910. He died 27 Feb 1919 and is buried in Willoughby Cemetery section A, next to his wife, Lillian A. Olney who died in 1932.
George and Lillian had two children, James Olney Manville, a music teacher, b. 28 Mar 1878, and Gertrude S. Manville b. 8 Feb 1882. James died in 1913 leaving children, Martha J. and James Olney Jr. Gertrude married musician James A. McMahon (1880-1963) about 1902. In 1910 he was a musician, but by 1920 he is an undertaker in his own store with employees. In 1930 he is both undertaker and musician at 51 Euclid Avenue.
In 1969 a Lawrence McMahon was running the McMahon Funeral Home at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Park Avenue, and Michael Coyne was an intern with this business. Upon completion of his internship he went to work for the Mulqueeny Brothers Funeral Home. In 1976 Coyne returned to Willoughby and purchased the McMahon Funeral Home, changing the name to McMahon Coyne Funeral Home.
In 2001 McMahon Coyne merged with Conti-Vitantonio Funeral Home. Locations in both Mentor and Willoughby became McMahon Coyne Vitantonio Funeral Homes.
McMahon, now McMahon Coyne Vitantonio, is located in a small home on the corner of Euclid and Park Avenues.
