Hagerty, Haggerty - My name is William Robert Hagerty and have traced my family back to early 1820s to one Thomas Hagerty who was married to one Caroline Courson born about 1827. I found very little help in 1850 census for Warren County because Thomas Hagerty is not listed and may be dead. His wife is working for a doctor as a housekeeper under her maiden name and her son William H. Hagerty is being care for by Stephen Emonous age 62 and his wife Elizabeth This information is taken from Fredinghugaen Township census of 1850. And on William H. Hagerty Death record of June 19, 1915 his mother record his father as Thomas Hagerty of U.S.A. Yet I cannot find any other reference to Thomas Birth, Death, Location.
I have found out from census records from Warren county in townships of Stillwater, Blairstown, and Frelinghugsen that my Grandfather was born in Blairstown in 1899 to Harvey C Hagerty and Margaret Katural France (Who Whose marriage record I found in Trenton These are my problems
1. I cannot find death record of Harvey C Hagerty who died before 1936, I Know this because his son signed up for Social Security in 1936 and listed both parents as deceased .
2.Harveys father was one William H Hagerty who was married to Hannah C Harmmond from both william and Hannah death records I found there date of birth and date of death. William Died in Jun 19, 1915 in Blairstown and is listed a being buried in Stillwater Cemetary I made trip up there and found no grave marker for his place.
3. William's Father is listed as Thomas Haggerty and his mother is Caroline Courson yet I find no marriage record of them and going back to the 1850 census Caroline Courson is house hold of a doctor listed as house keeper and her son is living in Frelinghugen Township census in house hold of Steven Emmons and wife Elisabeth as a 13 moth old, Which leads me to belive that Thomas has either pass away, abadand them or move out of the area. I am trying to trace my family back to when they arrived in United States and it appears so fare that They have been in North Jersey since the early 1820's but I cann't verify this as yet. Since Warren County is so far removed from South Jersey meaning your Historical society is only open 2-4 on Sunday I cann't get up there and Trenton records have help but it apperars I am at an impass as to going back farther than Thomas on my Father Father side, I have a little move information on his mothers side So any help would be greatly received and any record or added information I have I will be willing to share with anyone who could help. Photos or any family history is what I need Any help would be thankful Please email. Thanks again Contact Bill Hagerty

METTLER, MEESHOW, MEDLAR, WOOLEVER, THATCHER, BUSHEE - I am searching for information on my ggg-grandfather, Francis METTLER (b. 6 Dec 1796 Monmouth Co. NJ) and married a Hannah MEESHOW (sic) in the Village of Washington, Warren Co. on 20 Feb 1821. The 1830 Warren Co. census lists a Francis MEDLAR and a Francis MEDLAR Jr. I also found a Francis Medler as a member of the Sussex County, Grannage Township Militia in the 1793 Census. The METTLERS moved to Ohio around 1839. Some of the WOOLEVER, THATCHER, and BUSHEE families married into this line and moved to Ohio about the same time.
Also submitted - My ggg-grandfather was Francis METTLER (various spellings incl. MEDLAR), who (according to his pension records) was born on 6 Dec 1796 in Monmouth Co. NJ. He was married to Hannah MEESHOW (could have been MERSHAN) on 20 Feb 1821 in the Village of Washington, Warren Co.. They moved to Ohio around 1840 with WOOLEVERS, THATCHERS, and KITCHENS. The 1830 Warren Co. Census has both Francis MEDLAR and Francis MEDLAR Jr. living next to each other; thus I believe the elder Francis is the father (b. abt. 1765). I have several METTLER families from this period in Monmouth, but can't connect them. Do you think we could help each other? Thanks Contact Roger Byers

My METTLER line lived near Washington Village, Warren County in the early 1800's. I am interested in the METTLERS (also MEDLAR, METLAR, METLER) and allied families: WOOLEVER, KITCHEN, and THATCHER. My research indicates Francis METTLER m. Hannah MEESHOW (could be MERSHON) in 1821 in the Village of Washington. Thanks much Contact Roger Byers - alternate e-mail address robyers@gcfn.org

WOOLWEAVER/WOOLWEFER/WOOLWEVER etc. - Lived in Warren and Somerset Counties, New Jersey. Operated a woolen mill that produced cloth for the residents. Possibly a family related to the Palatine WOHLEBENs from Herkimer and Dutchess County NY, who came to New Jersey in the mid-1700s during the time of chaos caused by the French and Indian War. I am looking, in New Jersey for Counrad Wolwever or Woolwefer, who lived in Oxford Township, and William Woolwever or Woolwefer who lived in Greenwich Township, circa 1770-1790. Also - WOOLWEAVER/WOOLWEFUR - I am researching Woolweaver in Beekmen Town, Dutchess County, New York in the 1700s, and trying to establish a possible relationship to the Palatine Wohleben family that settled in Beekmanland after their arrival. In corresponding with Rachel Meyers, Sussex County Wohleben researcher, I determined that the Beekman Wohlebens had branches in New Jersey, the only other place I had found Woolweaver/Woolwefur, and recently she located Woolwefur court records associated with Woolever in Sussex. Counrad Woolwefur appears to have descendants that used the spelling Woolweaver, including some that went to Pennsylvania. Contact with anyone researching the "W's" would be greatl appreciated.
