BERGEN, TILMAN, SPENCER, JOHNSON - I am looking for information on the family of Beulah BERGEN born around 1910 in Springtown in Greenwich Twp. She married Samuel Allen JOHNSON, SR.and had 2 children, Samuel ,Jr and Doris. Her mother was Sarah BERGEN and her grandmother was Laura TILMAN OR SPENCER. Some of Sarah or Laura's siblings were Elizabeth,Berna,Myrtle,Bertha,Charles and William. BESHERRER (BESCHERER, BESHEAR), MANNING, DRAKE, HULL - families who resided near what is now Blairstown, Warren Co., NJ in the 1700's early 1800's. Descendants of these families migrated into Orange Co., NJ and took up claims in the Bounty Lands in the Finger Lakes, NY area in the late 1790's.
Abraham and John BESHERRER are both listed in the 1773, 1774 census of Knowlton Twp., Sussex (now Warren) Co., NJ.
1. An Elizabeth BESHERRER m. Benjamin MANNING (b. 1723), son of Israel "Benjamin" MANNING and Susannah SKINNER.
2. An Elizabeth BESHERRER m. Tristram HULL (b. 6 Apr 1720), son of Benjamin HULL (1680-1733) and Sarah DRAKE (b. 1686?- d. 1749). Sarah DRAKE m2 ___ DUNHAM and m3 1739 Israel FOLSOM.
Are Elizabeths #1 and #2 the same person, and--if so--is she the daughter of Abraham or John BESHERRER?
Several BESCHERER families still reside in Warren County. Are they descendants?

BITTERS, SKINNER - Searching for background info on Helen Bitters born late 1800's in/near Easton PA, died about 1940. She married Earl Skinner and they lived in Phillipsburg NJ for many years. Her siblings were: Natalie, Florence, Grace, Mamie, Kenneth. All are deceased and have left little information about their backgrounds other than they were from Easton PA/Phillipsburg NJ area. Florence, Grace, Natalie all moved to Jersey City NJ prior to 1916. I am Natalie's granddaughter and searching for roots prior to Helen, Natalie, and their siblings. Any help appreciated. BOOK [BUCHS, BUCH, BUCKS, BOOKS] - Johann Georg BOOK (b. ?, Wuertenberg, Germany, d. ? aged 85 years, Union Co. PA) was married three times, thirdly to Christina METZGER (b. ?, Wuertenberg, Germany, d. ?, aged 97 years, Union Co., PA. They are known to have lived in Knowlton Twp., NJ. Their children include Magdalena (b.1757), George (b.1758), Ann (b. prob. 1760), Sophia/Sabina (b. 1762), Christine, and Barbara. J. George's children by his first two wives are known to include Conrod, John, and Jacob. Johann George BOOK appears on the 1773-4 Knowlton Twp. tax lists as George BOOK, and moves to Union Co., (then Northumberland Co.,) PA by 1775.

CANNON - Thomas Cannon immigrated 1857, settled in Oxford (Washington Twp.) and married 1861 to Sarah Connell. He was one of children sent over by mother Bridget before she came herself. Bridget was living with him in 1870 and 1880 in Washington Twp on Mine Hill Rd. She was 78 in 1880. Looking for her death date, not in NJ index. CHATHAM, COOK, CALL, DEHAAS, FARRELL, GILINGER, WILLEVER - I'm looking for any and all available connections. My father was Walter DeHaas Chatham, Jr. He was born in Philadelphia 1 Feb 1921 (although his birth certificate may be altered to the year 1920 as are his military records). He was named for his father, born 13 Oct 1897, in Williamsport, Lycoming, Pa. That name is found in Pa, however, his mother was Helen Violet Cook Bishop. I know little of Mr. Bishop except that he had 7 children with Helen and there are Bishops all over Easton Pa and Phillipsburg, NJ. Walter, Sr. was Helen's second husband. She had 2 more children with him, my dad and Hazel (Markle). The rest of the family apparently coninues back in the Warren County history. I was born in Warren County Hospital. CONNELL - Martin and Ellen Connell had children Martin; Sarah immig 1854, m. Thomas Cannon 1861 in Oxford; Winifred m. Michael Corboy (Curboy, Carboy) and lived in Oxford, and Bridget m. Thomas Leonard, Oxford and Philipsburg; Patrick died and buried in St Rose Oxford in 1870's. Patrick's stone has place in Ireland but illegible. Looking for more info about location in Ireland. DAVIS/RANDOLPH - Looking for information on Marietta DAVIS (b.2/18/1821) who married Howell Watson RANDOLPH on 10/6/1842 in (Shiloh, NJ?) The Randolph family was from Shiloh. According to a Randolph bible, Marietta(Davis)Randolph died 8/26/1845 and was the mother of Carrie D.(Randolph) Davis who married Dr. Arnold Carpenter Davis in Walworth, WI in 1865. EGBERT - I am looking for my great grandfather's birth details. His name was John Wolston Egbert. He married a Sara L. Appleby. I believe he was born in 1841. Which records could I look for that would reflect his birth? New Jersey Vital Statistics begin in the year 1848, so that doesn't help me. I am researching the above names from Warren/Sussex counties and also across the river in the Mt. Bethel, Pa. area. The FANGBONER/FANCKBONER/FANKBONER surnames are all the same. There were 3 brothers from a GRUNADYKE FANCKBONER who each chose to spell the last name differently. I am from a little community in Michigan called Mt. Vernon in Macomb Co. FOLEY/DUFF/CLOUGHSSEY of Oxford, Warren New Jersey.
James FOLEY came from Ireland in the 1850s with his brothers Andrew, John and Peter. They worked for a time in the iron works of Danville, Montour County PA. James married Mary MCGUIRE. Before they left PA, James died. Mary moved with her 4 young sons (Thomas, Wilaim, James, and Peter) and her brother-in-laws to Oxford, NJ in the 1860's. The family worked in the Iron mines and Iron Works there in Oxford. Mary married John DUFF and had several more children. Mary died in Oxford in 1913.
Thomas FOLEY, son of Mary was born in Danville PA in 1859. He married Norah CLOUGHSSEY (born 1861) in Oxford at St. Rose Catholic Church in 1879. Norah, her two brothers Edward and Thomas had come from New York with their father David sometime before 1880 to work the Mines. Father David and Thomas CLOUGHSSEY later moved to Patterson, NJ.

The family is in Havana Twp, Mason Co, IL in the 1860 census, and in Mason City Twp, Mason Co, IL in the 1870 census. Have not been able to identify Godfrey in NJ, where he and his parents are supposed to have been born. Most of the HULSHIZER family seems to have been in Warren and Hunterdon Counties (NJ). JARRARD - I have called the town offices of Bloomsbury only to find that they have no ancient records, as they were not incorporated until 1800's. My ancestor, ISAAC JARRARD, a miller alive at the time of the Revolution,"lived at Bloomsbury 50 years" and his son William, at Hackettstown in census 1840. I'd like to find his marriage (to Elizabeth___) or interment...only record I've encountered was baptism of a child by a travelling minister at Mesconetcong meeting through Pennsylvania Historical Magazine. Are there any headstone records or baptismal/marriage records for Bloomsbury area? His grandchildren went to church at Mt.Lebanon Church, Washington Township...on the Hunterdon Co. side I think? The cemetery there is reported to be extant, but difficult...any suggestions? Warren Co. Historical Society has been helpful, but appear stumped! KLEINHANS, Jacob, was born in Belvidere 1782, married Eva Butz. They had 5 children: (i)John married Elizabeth---; (ii)Daniel had 2 sons, Walter and Lindley; (iii)Sidney (fem) married Rev David Graves; (iv)Henry; and (v)Jacob, b. 1813. KUYKENDALL, KERKENDALL, CUICKENTHAEL, KIRKENDALL - The earliest I have is a Jacob Kuykendall who was an Indian trader guide for a boundry Commission to fix the beginning of the Delaware River in 1714. One Jacob Cuickendal ran a canoe ferry from Phillipsburg NJ to Easton PA. He had a farm in NJ and 30 acres in Easton, until the local Sheriff David Martin seized it all for taxes in 1737, including the Phillipsburg farm. A deputy was low bidder in Easton. One year later David Martin was granted exclusive ferry rights for 10 miles each way on The Delaware, and took over from his deputy, quitting as sheriff, to operate the King Georges ferry grant at Easton.
Other family members owned property as Dutch settlers, claiming large farms on the NJ side of the Delaware River from Phillipsbug and the Water Gap, Minnisink Island, and what later became Port Jervis NY. A Samuel Kuykendall built the first jail in Goshen NY where he served as Justice of the Peace. These Kuykendall decendants of a Nieu Amsterdam soldier in the 1654 army of Peter Stuyvesant records seem not to exist in early New Jersy records, although they were on the old Mine Road that shipped copper and silver ore, coal and farm products via Newburg NY old port facilities. Records in early Dutch and Dutch Reformed Churches seem to list many decendants or possibly new immigrants from Holland in the NY cities of Kingston and Poughkeepsie, and few from the many other DRC churches. At least 4 DRC churches existed on the old Mine Road, some for nearly 100 years of peace with the Indians. Quaker attempts to cheat Indian tribes led to war by 1740, and legal land thefts of Dutch farmers lands after 1675 by English rulers and 1783 Quakers took over many farms, forcing removal of Kuykendall decendants to North Carolina. These have been well documented, as have most of the later moves to Texas as early as 1830 Austin Colony. The copper and silver mining suddenly were lost, since Dutch settlers and Indians no longer were friendly to the English courts.
Before the use of Durham PA area to build the famous Durham boats of the Delaware River and Washington crossing the Delaware River fame, using local iron and coal sources, a number of mines had existed in the general vicinity, puportedly by 'German" miners who built early canal boats and shipped their products by canal boat up and down the Delaware. A record existed in a local newspaper about a wagon and team crashing into a deep hole when the mine pit supports gave way in 1722. I am interested in the early Kuykendall records in what has been a vain attempt to locate the parents and birthplace on 9 May 1809 of Issac Kerchanthael, later Kerkendall. It may have been in Harmony Township NJ or in Mt Bethel Twp area of PA, or some other place entirely. In any event I am getting along in years, and need to solve this mystery if poiisble. LANNING - I am looking for the parents of Ruben Lanning b. 1789 who married Sarah Groff. They left Warren in 1828 and headed west. They sold property in Mansfield Twp before they left. Also looking for the parents, siblings and children of Joseph Groff. Joseph married Annie Cummins and they lived in Mansfield Twp. They had 10 children; Sarah who married Ruben Lanning; Kitturah who married Amos Bird; Francis Groff; and Parmelia who married Jeremiah Guest; and Susannah who married George Opdycke. STONE, William or Thomas - William and Sarah Stone lived in Harmony or Greenwich Twp. according to a 1860 census. It showed children as Thomas B(enton) age 5 and Rebecca. Nothing in 1870. But in 1880 Thomas had married and moved to Durham PA with wife Mary Ann, who left him shortly after that (divorce?). In 1895 Thomas moved to Morristown, NJ. He died in 1931. Looking for any info on William or Sarah (parents names?) or Thomas (between 1854-1895). If you are related I will be glad to share a lot of information on Thomas after he moved back to NJ. WARNE - The family I am interested in is John Warne, born 1793, in NJ. He married Sarah Stires on Feb. 14, 1818 in Hunterdon County, NJ. They eventually left NJ for Michigan, then Illinois. At least two of their seven children were born in NJ: Daniel A. (12/8/1820) and Taylor A. (1817) - Daniel would have been my Great, Great, Great(?), Grandfather. I have seen the name spelled Warne and Warn.
I found an article that said John Warne moved to Warren County, NJ, where he bought a farm and opened a general store and hotel for the next 15 years. He was also a genreal contractor and contracted to excavate part of the Morris Canal. It also mentiones that he was a surveyor and served as justice of the peace. Then in 1831 he moved to Michigan and tought school.
I heard that a deceased aunt was in the DAR and I have written to them for assistance. I understand that "Seth Warner" is a relative that she had researched, but her documentation was never passed along to family and, I believe, step-children didn't keep it.
