NELSON KIDDER (James5, James4, James3, John2, James1), born at East Alstead, N.H., 22 Aug. 1803; died there 21 Sept. 1871.
He married at Acworth, Sullivan Co., N.H., 22 Dec. 1829, SOPHIA GEORGE, born there 22 July 1803; died at East Alstead,
26 May 1883, daughter of Ezra and Abigail (Gove) George of Acworth.
Nelson Kidder was a successful farmer. He was a strong Democrat, did not take an active part in political matters,
though he was naturally one the leading men of the community. He was a church worker, belonging to the
Methodist denomination and was one of twelve men who built the Brook Church at East Alstead.

ARBA KIDDER (James5, James4, James3, John2, James1), born at Alstead, N.H., 1 Feb. 1808; died at Keene, N.H., 20 Oct. 1878.
He married at Keene, 24 Dec. 1834, MARY E. METCALFof that place, born about Mar. 1812; died at Keene, 31 Jan. 1894,
"aged 81 years, 10 months," daughter of Frederic and Esther Metcalf.
Arba Kidder was a cabinetmaker. He resided at Keene, N.H., where he held various town offices.
He served as a member of the State legislature in 1849-50.

Dentist FREDERIC TAFT KIDDER (Ezra5, James4, James3, John2, James1), born at Alstead, N.H., 18 Oct. 1807; died at Claremont, N.H., 19 Feb. 1860.
He married at Shaftsbury, Bennington Co., Vt., 28 Aug. 1834, CAROLINE OLIN of that place, died in Mar. 1880.
Dr. Frederic Taft Kidder was a dentist. He served as a member of the New Hampshire Legislature from Claremont in 1847.
In 1861 he acted as a director of the Sanitary Commission. Later he resided in Lawrence, Mass.

15 Dec. 1822; died at New Albany, Ind., in 8 June 1864. He married first, at Taunton, Mass., 2 Aug. 1846, SERENA DEAN AUSTIN,
born 20 Oct. 1826; died at Bowen's Prairie, Ia., 27 Mar. 1856; secondly, at Bowen's Prairie, in Sept. 1856, MERCY C. BLODGETT,
born at Harford, PA, 1831; died 17 Dec. 1860; and thirdly, at Bolton, NY, or Nugent's Grove, Ia., 20 Jan. 1862, MARY AUGUSTA WARE,
born at Hampden, Geauga Co., OH, 1 July 1835; died 1 Mar. 1923, daughter of Asaph and Pamela (Nims) Ware.
Ezra Kidder as a private in Company K, 9th Iowa Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War.
Ezra Kidder was admitted to the U.S. Hospital, Branch #6, 3 June 1864. He died of disease, 8 June 1864, at New Albany, Indiana and was buried there.
A booklet titled Civil War Letters of Ezra Kidder, edited and annotated by Ann Turner, was written in 1989, about 50 pages, includes some photos.
Erza Kidder mailed numerous letters to his wife describing his life in the Army during the Civil War.

Dentist JAMES HARVEY KIDDER (Ezra5, James4, James3, John2, James1), born at Alstead, N.H., 5 June 1825; died at Lawrence, Mass., 6 June 1900.
He married at Lancaster, Mass., 5 June 1860, ADELAIDE SARAH DODGE of that place, born at Nelson, NH, in 1834; died at Lawrence, Mass.,
17 Oct. 1896, daughter of George and Sally (Wilson) Dodge of Lancaster.
James Kidder graduated from Dartmouth College in 1850. He studied medicine two years at Maryland University,
and dentistry with his brother, Frederic T. Kidder. He practiced at Lawrence, Mass., and was president of the Pacific National Bank of that city.

He married, 4 Mar. 1845, ELIZABETH ABBOTT of Cabot, Washington Co., Vt., born about 1823, daughter of John A. Abbott.

He married at Acworth, Sullivan Co., N.H., 14 May 1829, HARRIET NEWELL ATWOOD of that place, born there, 30 June 1817;
died at East Alstead, 3 Jan. 1905, daughter of Joseph and Sybil Atwood.
Samuel Maynard Kidder, called "Captain," was a farmer and resided at Alstead, N.H.
He served for some years as postmaster of that town, and filled various offices, including that of Selectman.

REV. JOHN SUMNER KIDDER (John5, Samuel4, James3, John2, James1), born at Crown Point, N.Y., 22 Jan. 1811; died at Hopkins Station,
Allegan Co., Mich., 18 Oct. 1897. He married at Amherst, N.H., 29 Aug. 1843, MARY ANNE KIDDER(Ezra5, James4, James3, John2, James1),
born at Alstead, N.H., 23 Feb. 1821; died at Hopkins Station, 29 May 1896, daughter of Ezra and Calista (Taft) Kidder.
John Sumner Kidder returned with his widowed mother and her other children to Alstead, N.H., about 1823,
aand spent some years learning the trade of clothier, but in 1833 chose the ministry as his calling. He attended Burr Seminary
in Manchester, Vermont, and in 1835 entered Amherst College, from which he graduated in 1839, following which he took
a three years course at Andover Theological Seminary, and was ordained to the Congregational ministry, 12 Sept. 1843.
In fulfillment of a long cherished purpose to pursue his calling in the West, he proceeded to Michigan, where he preached in many towns
from 1843 until 1876, among them Schoolcraft, Wayne, Litchfield, Wayland, Hopkins and other places.
