- 1865-1877 Pawnee Scouts – Organized at Columbus, Nebraska, January 13, 1865 by Major Frank North. “During the Sioux and Cheyenne wars on the Nebraska frontier, from 1864 to 1877, these brave Indians, by their courage and vigilance, defended our border, saving the lives of hundreds of settlers. In all the campaigns the Pawnee scouts were at the front.”

- 1864-1969 Veterans Deaths of the Mexican, Indian and Spanish American Wars and peace-time
- 1896-1899 Company K, First Regiment, Nebraska Volunteer Infantry – Known as the “Whitmoyer Rifles,” Company K of Columbus was organized on the 3rd day of June, 1896, by J.N. Killian, its first Captain. The unit was named in honor of Colonel M. Whitmoyer, a popular and well-known lawyer, a veteran of the late (Civil) war, and a friend of the soldier boys.
- 1898-1899 Spanish-American War and Philippine Insurrection. Company K “Whitmoyer Rifles” was mustered into Federal Service on April 27, 1898 and arrived in the Philippine Islands in August, 1898.
- 1900-1908 Company K, First Regiment, Nebraska Volunteer Infantry - Known as the "Evans Rifles." Mustered in at Columbus, Nebraska on February 14, 1900. Named after Dr. Carroll D. Evans, Sr.
- Co. K Payroll - Pay roster for service while training at Camp Robert W. Fomas near Lincoln, Nebraska, August 1-17, 1907
- 1916 Mexican Border - Over 2,100 Nebraska national guardsmen were sent to the Mexican border in June 1916 after Pancho Villa raided Columbus, New Mexico. While U.S. troops pursued Villa into Mexico, the Nebraska soldiers remained at Camp Llano Grande, Texas, until February, 1917. This included Platte County guardsmen from Humphrey and Lindsay, serving with Company H, 4th Infantry Regiment, Nebraska National Guard (located in Madison).
