Dr. Varro M. Boal
Dr. Varro M. Boal was a physician in Nemaha County, Nebraska. A Boal family member has shared pictures taken in the 1908 period in Auburn, Nebraska .

"Varro Marquis Boal was born December 14, 1849 in Franklin County, Indiana.
He was the second of five children (3 girls and two boys) born to Dr. George Mitchell Boal and Susannah Louise Mills of Darby Township, Union County, Ohio. He moved to Elmwood, Knox County, Illinois (1850 Census) from Indiana and in 1866 or 1867 his family relocated near Bloomfield, Davis County, Iowa; Moulton, Appanoose County, Iowa and Wapello County Iowa (1870 Census).
Varro married January 2, 1876 in Weller, Iowa Rhoda Maddy, born December 11, 1857 in Monroe County, Iowa. His second wife was Belle Thompson, born in 1862 and was married February 11, 1885 in Appanoose County, Iowa. He lived with both wives in Auburn, Nebraska where he had a medical practice.
My grandfather, Ezra Boal told the story of the time when he was a child in Davis County, Iowa near Bloomfield, Iowa, he was thrown from a horse and severely broke his leg. The injury was so severe that plans were made to amputate the leg. His uncle, Dr. Varro Boal was contacted and came back to Davis County, Iowa to treat and save his leg from amputation.
In 1921, when Varro's mother Susannah (Boal) Small died it was noted that Dr. Varro Boal of Monrovia, California was too ill to return to Davis County, Iowa for the funeral. He died in Monrovia, California February 2, 1924."

Dr. G. M. Boal, Varro M. Boal's father, was a native of Columbus, Ohio, and a graduate of the Missouri Medical College.
