Death of Mrs. J. F. Morrissey
A Sad and Sudden Death
The loved resident was called to her silent home on Friday, the 18th day of December, 1891, at 3 o’clock p.m. She was taken sick Sunday but was not thought dangerous until about Tuesday, when the doctor discovered that puerperal fever had set in from which she suffered untold agony until Friday at three o’clock, when she was relieved of all pain and sufferings and taken to her Heavenly home. Mrs. Morrissey was a lady who was loved and admired by all who knew her and was a general favorite wherever known. No tongue can tell how her absence is missed by her dear husband and near relatives. She was a strong healthy looking woman but it seems a message had been delivered by the messenger whose will must be obeyed. On Wed. soon after the death of her three day old baby, she remarked to her mother, “I will soon be home with pa and my dear babies.”
The deceased was born at Shullsburg, Wisconsin, April 20, 1863, and was therefore at the time of her death 28 years, 8 months, and 28 days old. In the spring of 1878 she moved with her parents to Seney, Iowa, where in ’79 she joined the Methodist church. Her maiden name was Lizzie Alderson and was married to Mr. J. F. Morrissey Nov. 25, 1882, at Seney. Two years ago the deceased moved with her husband to this city where she has since resided. Two boys blessed the union, one bright little fellow of three summers and another of seven, who are now left without a mother’s watchful care.
The deceased leaves a husband, two sisters, six brothers and an aged mother with hosts of near and dear kindred to mourn her loss. The funeral occurred from the church in this city on Sunday forenoon at 10 o’clock and the remains were followed to their resting place in the new cemetery, east of town. Two sisters, four brothers, and other near relatives arrived to be present at the funeral but too late to see her alive. Another brother, William, lives in Oklahoma.
