Samuel Miller & Maria SchuhSam Miller, son of Freidrich and Christina (Madche) Miller, was born in 1877 in South Russia. He came to America in 1886. Maria, daughter of Fredrich and Christina Schuh, was born in 1881, in South Russia. She came to America in 1902. Sam and Maria were married in 1903 in Krem. They farmed eight miles northwest of Hazen until their retirement to Hazen in 1944. The had 11 children: Pauline (Krause), 1904-1980; Hulda (Oster), 1905; Lydia (Wolf), 1907; Reinhold 1909-1975; Elsie (Wolf, later Urness), 1911; Art, 1912-1964; Martha (Heth) 1914; Regina (Knoell), 1916; Frieda (Berg), 1918; Oscar, 1920; and Walter, 1922. Sam’s father died in 1926; his mother in 1930. Maria’s father died in 1926; her mother in 1932.
