Jacob and Katherina Mohl

Jacob and Katherina made their living on the farm.

Jacob was born in 1884 in South Russia to Fredrick and Maria (Buchmiller) Mohl. Katherina was born in 1886 in South Russia to Adam and Wilhelmina (Reiner) Guenthner.

Jacob came to America with his parents on the SS Kaiser Wilhelm in 1899 and settled in Mercer County in the Mannhaven area where his father homesteaded two quarters of land.

He and Katherina married in 1904 and they homesteaded near his father. They derived their living almost entirely from farming except one summer when Jacob operated a ferry boat on the Missouri River.

Jacob got an elementary education in Russia and attended night school in America to learn the English language.

Jacob and Katherina were long-time members of Trinity Lutheran Church of rural Hazen.

Jacob died in 1961 and Katherine died in 1946.
