Last Will & Testament of Edward TEAL of Baltimore County, Maryland, dated 9 May 1720
In the name of [God] Amen, I Edw. Teal of Balt. County in the Province of Maryland being sick and weak in body, but perfect & sound in memory & judgements (glory be to God therefore) do make, constitute and appoint this my last will & testament. In the first place I give & bequeath my soul to God and my body to this Earth to be buried in such decent manner as my Eqq [sic. Executor] after named shall see fit, and unto what small matter of temporal estate it hath pleased God to bestow upon me in this world. I give and bequeath the same in manner following/Viz
I give and bequeath to my son Emanuel and my daughter Ruth my Tract of Land called the Tanyard & addition to be divided at the middle branch of the three branches between my dwellinghouse & the dwellinghouse of John [?] Hamilton. The division line to run with the said branch to the Road [?] and then with a sraight line to the highest out Side of said land
My son Emanuel to have the first part where my dwelling house now stands, and my daughter Ruth to have that part next to the falls of the Patapsco River, to them and their heirs lawfully begot of their bodies, and in case one of them decease without heirs as aforesaid than the whole tract to fall to the survivor, his or her heirs begot as aforesaid, and in case my said son & daughter both decease without such heirs, I give & bequeath the said tract of land to my son in Law Jno. Stinchcomb to him, his heirs & assignees[?] for ever.
I give and bequeath to my son Emanuel a sorrel horse[?] colt branded on the buttock with E T to him his heirs Eqq admt [Executor or Administrator] and assignees [?] ----------------
I give and bequeath to my said son Emanuel my negro boy called Jacob, to him his heirs Eqq, admit and assignees[?]
I give and bequeath to my daughter Ruth my negrogirl called Daroa and one dun mare colt , (?) her Increase[?] to her heirs Eqq admint, assignees
I make, constitute and appoint my loving wife my whole and I do Eqq of this my last will & testament; in case it shall please God to take my wife out of this troublesome world before my children ?oat[?] age I leave my said children ? belongs to them, to the(?) care of my loving friend Henry Owens(?), I desire my son Emanuel may be at liberty to work for him ? at ? at the age of eighteen years but not to have any of his estate before the age of twenty one years----.
&(?) my will is that all my tobacco(?) upon the plantation ( ? ) ? and ? which is due to the ? ) be shipped home to England and no appraisment to be made thereof to(?) the(?) accounts ? ? ? from England----------------
I declare this to be my last will & Testament & hereby revoke disallow(?) and make void all other & former wills or wills testament testaments any manner of ways made or declared by me preceeding this day - In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seals this 9th day of May Anno 1720.

On the back of the foregoing will was thus written /Viz/
(illegible date) 1720 ....... then came Wm. Baker, Wm. Hamilton & John Whipps(?) the subscribing ? to the will(?) in ? ? ; made oath on the holy Evangalist of almighty God that they saw the testator Edw. Teal sign and seal the ? ? ? as his last will & testament and that he published & declared the same to be & that at the time of his signing he was of sound & perfect(?) in mind & memory to the best of their knowledge sworn---- before me Israel D. Register of Wills, Balt. County
