Will of Sarah Scarf 1782

Last Will and Testament Sarah Scarf of Baltimore County, Dated 18 July 17??, Proved 11 June 1782

In the name of God, Amen. July 18th, in the year of our Lord I Sarah Scarff of Baltimore County, being a low state of health of body and in perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God, therfore, calling unto mind the motatlity of my body and knowing that is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recomend my Soul into the hande of God that gave it and for my body I recomend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent maner at the discretion of Executers nothing douling but at the General resurection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to Bless me in this life I give devise, and dispose of the same in the fowlowing manner and form. Imprimis. It is my will and I order that in the first place all my just debts, funeral charges be and satisfied. Item. I give and bequeath unto Martha Scarff daughter of Henry Scarff on Gold ring, Sarah Scarff Daughter of John one gold ring, and unto Mary Guton daughter of Benjamin, one pair of Silver shoo buckels and unto Rebecker Scarff all my puter and one [illegible] and one pair of Silver leave bullons one Eartin pot and unto Sarah Guito Daugher of Benjamin one side sadle and unto Nicholas Scarff one half a certain sum of money due to me from Aram Hughes which I have his note for, likewise I constitute, make and ordain Benjamin Gaiton Senr. my Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and for the rest of my Estate all to Rebecker Scarff. I witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

Signed, sealed and published pronounced and declared by the said Sarah Scarff as hur last Will and Testament in the presents of us the subscribers. Baltimore County to wit.

On the 11th day of June 1782 came Benjamin Amoss son of James subscribing evidence to the aforegoing last Will and Testamnet of Sarah Scarff deceased and made oath to that he saw the Testatrix sign and seal this Will and heard her publish pronounce and declare the same to be her last Will and Testament that at the time of her so doing she was to the best of his apprehension of sound disposing mind memory and understanding and that he together with Benjamin Guyton Junr., signed their names as witnesses to the said Will in the presence of the Testatrix at her request and in the presence of each other. Certified by me the Subscriber Register of Wills for Balt. Co.

Mr. Buckhaner I have wrote to you to let you know concerning the Administration of Sarah Scarf. I understand that the Samll pox is very brief in Town and neighter myself nor family never had it therfore I deliver up my Executorship to John Scarff to settel same. I am sir you humble servant. May 29 1782.
