Will and Last Testament of John GRIFFITH of Baltimore, Dated 16 September 1794, Proved 25 September 1794
In the name of God Amen I John Griffith of
Baltimore Town and State of Maryland being weak in body but of sound and
disposing mind and memory Do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and
form following First It is my will and desire that my Body shall be decently
buried the management of which I Commit to my Executors herein after named. Item
It is my will and desire that all my just Debts shall be paid.
Item I
give and bequeath to my brother William Griffith of the County of Chester in the
State of Pensylvania the full sum of Sixty Pounds Current Money
Item I
give and bequeath to my Sister Elizabeth Griffith the full sum of sixty Pounds
Current Money of Maryland and after the payment of the said sixty Pounds to my
Brother William aforesaid, and the other Sum of Sixty Pounds to my Sister
Elizabeth aforesaid
It is my will and desire that all the rest and
residue of my Estate be it what kind nature ???? after the payment of the
aforesaid sums shall be Equally divided among all my Brothers and sisters herein
after named to witt William Griffith Benjamin Griffith and Miles Griffith, Sarah
Griffith Rachel Powell and Elizabeth Griffith William Griffith and Rachel Powell
are of Chester County in the State of Pennsylvania: Benjamin Griffith and Miles
Griffith, Sarah Griffith and Elizabeth Griffith are of the Town of Philadelphia
and State aforesaid.
Lastly I do constitute and appoint my friends
William Williams and John Thomas of Baltimore Town (?) merchants Executors of
this my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand
and affixed my seal this sixteenth day of September in the year of our Lord One
Thousand seven hundred and ninety four

Signed Sealed and Acknowledged by the said John Griffith for and as
his last Will and Testament in the presence of us: who at his Request,
subscribed our names as Witnesses to the same The words - Rachel being
excised and Elizabeth inserted before Execution twice Also the word
Powell in the place of Grifith Twice also the Word County in the place
of Town.

on the 26th day of September 1794 Came
John Morton John Davis and Wm McMechen subscribing Witnesses to the
aforegoing last will and Testament of John Griffith late of said County
deceased and made oath on the holy Evangels of Almighty God that they
did see the Testator sign and seal this will that they heard him publish
pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and Testament that at
the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of
sound disposing mind memory and understanding, and that they Subscribed
their names as Witnesses to this will in the presence and at the request
of the Testator and in the presence of each other. Sworn before me
