Will of Michael Gore 1792

Last Will and Testament of MICHAEL GORE of Baltimore County, Dated 3 Dec 1792 and Probated 30 Mar 1793

In the Name of God Amen I Michael Gore of Baltimore County in the State of Maryland being weak in body but of a Sound mind & memory and understanding praised be God for his mercies do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to Say first I commit my Soul unto the hands of God my Creator my Body I commit to the Earth to be buryed at the discretion of my Executor hereafter to be named.

Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Sibbel Gore my dwelling plantation being part of a Tract of Land called Murrays Plains together with all my household furniture plantation utensils, horses Cattle Sheep and Swine and my Negro Girl Poll to hold and Enjoy the aforesaid Property during her life. And after her Death the aforesaid Land household furniture plantation utensils horses Cattle Sheep and Swine to be Sold by my Executor hereafter to be named and the money to be Equally divided between my six Sons Christian, Andrew, John, George, Samuel and Phillip and I also leave all my other Land whereon my sons Samuel and Christian live being part of Nicholsons Manor to be sold as soon after my Death as My Executor can make it Convenient and the Money to be Equally divided between my aforesaid six sons after paying my just Debts and Legacies of money.

Item I give and bequeath unto my son Michael Gore one Shilling Sterling and no more besides what I have given heretofore.

Item I give and bequeath unto the heirs of my deceased son Jacob Gore one Shilling Sterling besides what I gave him in his lifetime and no more.

Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sibbel Hanes one Shilling Sterling beside what I have given her heretofore and no more.

Item I give and bequeath unto my son Christian Fifty two pounds upon the Condition of his Releasing his six brothers Michael, Andrew, John, George, Samuel and Philip from the payment of a Bond which he obtained of them on account of money due him from Michael Haines.

Item I give and bequeath unto my grandson George Gore (the son of George Gore) one negro girl calld Poll after my said wifes death and my will and desire is that my negro boy Greenbury be free at the age of Twenty One Years and my negro Girl Rachel be free at the age of Eighteen Years and I do declare them to be free at the time mentioned and that they are to be the property of my two Sons George and Philip until they shall be free and then discharge them well Cloathed and I do further Direct that my two Sons George and Philip shall have my negro man Sam and negro woman Ruth at the appraisement and shall pay unto my four sons Christian, Andrew, John and Samuel Two thirds of the amount of the appraisement of said negroes Share and Share alike and the Remaining One Third shall be their own property.

Lastly I do Constitute and appoint my two sons George Gore and Philip Gore my Excr of this my last will and Testament and that their Sale and Conveyance of my said Lands at the times mentioned shall be final to all intents and purposes.

In Witness whereof I Michael Gore, the Testator hath hereunto set my hand and affirmed my Seal this third day of December in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Ninety Two.
