Will of Hannah Gore 1816

Last Will & Testament of Hannah Gore of Baltimore county, Dated 23 Jun 1816, Probated 12 June 1827

In the name of God, Amen! I Hannah Gore of Baltimore County in the State of Maryland being weak in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory, and understanding, and considering the certainty of death, and the uncertainty of the time thereof; and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs, and thereby be the better prepaired (sic) to leave this world, when it shall please God to call me hence, do therefore make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say. First and principally, I commit my soul into the hand of Almighty God, and my body to the earth, to be decently buried at the descretion of my Executors hereinafter named, and after my debts and funeral charges are paid, I devise, and bequeath as follows.

ITEM. I give and bequeath unto my son Charles's daughter Margaret a negro Girl named Sall when said Margaret arrives at the age of Eighteen years, but if the said Margaret Gore should not live to arrive at the age of Eighteen years old, the said Negro Girl I give and bequeath unto the said Charles's daughter Nancy, when she the said Nancy arrives at the age of eighteen years; and if neither of the said daughters should live to the age of Eighteen years, then it is my will that the said Negro Girl named Sall shall serve my son Charles or whose hands she may fall into until she the said Sall shall arrive at the age of thirty three years old.

ITEM. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Markey one large walnut Chest.

ITEM. I give and bequeath unto Presocia Gore my bed and bedsted and three covers, also one white cow.

ITEM. I give and bequeath unto my son Charles all the remaining part of my property, if the said Charles Gore or his heirs shall pay unto my son John Gore one year after my death the sum of one hundred and six dollars and sixty cents current money, and if the said John Gore should die before the said some (sic) of one hundred and six dollars and sixty cents is due then the said Charles Gore or his heirs or executors or administrators shall pay to the heirs of the said John Gore as they shall arrive at age there (sic) equal part of said one hundred and six dollars and sixty cents without Intrest as they demand there (sic) equal parts of the said sum of money according to these numbers.

ITEM. I give and bequeath futher that all my wearing apparel be equally divided between my daughter Elizabeth Markey and Presocia Gore.

AND LASTLY, I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Charles Gore to be the sole Executor of this my last will and testament, revoking and annulling all former wills by me heretofore made ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament. In testamony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty third day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixteen.

On the 12th day of June 1827 came Stephen Freeland - and on the 11th day of August in the year aforesaid came Joseph Cooper, two of the subscribing witnesses to the aforegoing last will and testament of Hannah Gore late of said county deceeased, and made oath on the holy evangely of Almighty God,` that they did see the testator sign and seal this will, that they heard her publish pronounce and declare the same to be her last will and testament, that at the time of her so doing, she was to the best of their apprehensions, of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding, and that they together with Solomon Price, the other subscribing witness thereto, subscribed their names as witnesses to this will, in her presence, at her request, and in the presence of each other.
