In the name of God, Amen, I Christian Gore of the Borough of New Freedom, York County, State of Pennsylvania, being of Sound mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of the frail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish, and declare this to be my last Will and Testament:
That is to say, First, after all my lawful debts are paid and discharged, the residue of my estate, real and personal, I wish to remain, as if I were alive, to carry on my present business namely, the lumber, grocery, dry goods, hardware & trade, under the name, as now, of C. Gore and Sons, all profits arising therefrom to go into the general funds; but, Should there be at any time a loss such as to justify a winding up of the present business, then my dear Wife and children, shall select three persons from among my most judicious friends and they, concuring (sic); the business shall cease or that part that may not be profitable. But if one or more of the firm only becomes dissatisfied, then as before directed, they, my dear wife and children, shall select three persons from my most - Judicious friends and they shall say what must be done under the circumstances, and those drawing out must be satisfied with there (sic) decision. If at any time my dear Wife and children determine upon the sale of the real and personal property, after due trial as before intimated, then they, my dear Wife and children, shall as before directed, Select from among my most judicious friends three persons, they concuring with my dear Wife and children; and only then, Shall Sale be made of all my real and personal property, and after my dear Wife receives her one third of the Same; during her natural life, and each child living, to share alike, so that each child receive no more than the other of the two thirds that may remain of my estate, and at the death of my dear wife, her one third, be equally divided among my children that may survive her.
Likewise I make, constitute, and appoint my friend, J. W. Cullum, My Son, Upton H. Gore, Executors & my dear Wife Hester A. Gore Executrix of this my last Will and testament, hereby revoking all former Wills by me made.
