Will of John Chamberlain of Baltimore Co., Dated 12 Oct 1774, Proved 15 Dec 1775
In the name of God, Amen I, John Chamberlain of Baltimore County, being weak in body but of sound mind memory and understanding and considering the uncertainty of this transitory life do make ordain and publish and declare this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following:
First After all my just debts and funderal expenses are paid, Fist of all I give and bequeath unto my beloved son, Thomas Chamberlain all that land on the southwest side of a line drawn S. 30 E a Chestnut saplin to the northeast line of "Chamberlain Contrivance" said saplin bing marked thus PC and and standing on or near th end of the S.E. line of the widow Wright's land.
Also I give and bequeath unto my son Philip Chamberlain all that land that lies on the NE side of the before mentioned line excepting 4 acres at the deep hole running from the aforesade saplin marked PC with a straight line to the Long Green bridge near the Cold Spring. and
I give and bequeath unto my son Samuel Chamberlain all that land over the Long Green Run whereon he know lives and 4 acres of my son Philip's land near or joining the deep hole for a mill seat.
Also I give unto my grandson John Heathcoat Chamberlain son of Samuel a negro girl named Charlotte.
Also I give and bequeath unto my son James Chamberlain all that land in Gunpowder Neck that I bought of George York, and one negro boy called Davy and my sayne.
also I give unto my dearly beloved wife Margaret Chamberlain and my son John Chamberlain together all my other lands and primeses whatsoever only Charles Millerman is to peaceably enjoy the place whereon he now lives 10 years from the date of this Will and also 4 negro men who are my Cato Denbo Sambo and Dick and a negro boy called Ben and molatto Will and also a negro woman named Luce and another negro woman named Mirriah. All of the said negroes to my said wife and son John.
Also I give unto my daughter Mary Lucas a molatto girl named Hannah and after her decease to the heirs of her body
also I give unto my daughter Priscilla a negro girl called Mirrah and her increase after my wife's decease
also I give unto my daughter Margaret a negro girl named Bett and after her decease to the heirs of her body.
Also I give my daughter Elizabeth, a negro girl named Pug and after her decease to the heirs of her body
and I also give my daughter Casandra a negro girl called Charity and after her decease to the heirs of her body.
Also I give unto my daughter Rachel a negro girl named Luce and a negro boy named Jacob, both siad negroes to her after her mother's decease. I leave to the care of my daughter Susannah Standiford and also I leave James Gittings guardians of her my said daughter Rachel.
Also I unto Harry Brown a cow and calf and lastly I herein nominate and appoint my dearly beloved wife Margaret Chamberlain and my son Samuel Chamberlain executors of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking any former will or wills by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 12th day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy four.

Codicil to Will
I give and bequeath unto my son James 1 featherbed and furniture and 2 heads of cattle 2 dishes of puter and a half dozen plates of same a pot a pan and 2 basons
Also I give my son John 1 featherbed and furniture 2 heads of cattle 2 dishes half dozen plates a pt pan and 2 basons.
Also I give unto my daughter Priscillia one feather bed and furniture and 2 heads of cattle 2 dishes a half dozen plates and a pan and 2 basons
Also I give unto my daughter Rachel one featherbed and furniture and 2 heads of cattle 2 dishes half a dozen plates a pot pan and 2 basons.
