Will of John Bond of Baltimore County, Dated 8 Dec 1792, Proved 29 Dec 1792

In the Name of God Amen. I John Bond of Baltimore County and State of Maryland being sick and weak in body but of Sound mind memory and understanding Do make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form following To witt first and Principally I commend my Soul into the hands of almighty God my Creator my body I commit to the Earth to be decently buried & I desire and appoint that all such just Debts as I shall owe at the time of my Decease Together with my funeral Expences shall be first fully paid and Satisfied.

Item I give and bequeath unto my son John Bond all that Tract of Land called Bonds [industry?] Containing four hundred and fifty acres more or less to him his heirs and assigns forever. But my will and mind is and I do order and direct that my son John Bond shall pay unto my four Grand Children John Bond, Peter Bond, William Bond and Keturah Bond, Twenty five pounds to Each of them to be paid to them and Each of them within four Years after my Decease and in case my said son John Bond shall Refuse or neglect to pay them my said Grand Children at the time above mentioned as aforesaid that then I give and bequeath unto my three Grandsons John Bond, Peter Bond and William Bond One hundred and fifty acres of the aforesaid Tract of Land to be laid off at the Westermost (sic) part of the aforesaid Tract of Land to be Equally Divided between them to them their heirs and assigns forever and in case my said son John Bond should neglect to pay my said Grand Children the sums above mentioned and that my three Grand Children John Bond, Peter Bond and William Bond should have part of my Land as above mentioned, that then my said Three Grandsons John Bond, Peter Bond and William Bond shall pay my Grand Daughter Keturah Bond Eight pounds Six Shillings and Eight pence Current money Each of them and if they or Either of them shall Refuse or Neglact to pay her as aforesaid that then I give and bequeath One Third part of their Land so refusing or neglecting as aforesaid unto my Grand Daughter Keturah Bond to her, her heirs and assigns forever and my will and mind is that my said Grand Children John Bond, Peter Bond, William Bond, and Keturah Bond shall have no more of my Estate than is above mentioned.

Item. I also give and bequeath unto my son John Bond One Negro man named Bacon to him and his heirs and assigns for Ever.

Item. I give and bequeath unto the Children of my Daughter Eleanor Gorsuch one negro Woman named Dinah and all her Increase.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary Tipton one negro woman named Luce and her Increase.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ruth Gist one negro woman named Cass and her Increase.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Rachel Harryman one negro woman named Nell and her Increase and one negro boy named Jack.. My will is, and I do order and direct that my negro woman named Hager and her Increase all Excepting the negro boy named Jack heretofore bequeathed to my Daughter Rachel Harryman, to be Equally Divided between all my Daughters and that Eleanor Gorsuch's Children shall have only their monther's part or share in case she was now living. My will and mind is and I do order and direct that my old negro woman named Hannah shall have it in her Choices of which of my Children she will go with. My will and mind is and I do order and direct that my Land in the Barrence shall be sold at publick sale and the money arising therefrom to be Equally Divided Between Mary Tipton, Sarah Hall, Ruth Gist, Rachel Harryman and the Children of my Daughter Eleanor Gorsuch, that is to say that they shall only have their mothers Part or share in case she was now living and all the rest and Residue of any personal Estate of what kind or nature soever, I give and bequeath unto my Daughters Mary Tipton, Sarah Hall, Ruth Gist, Rachel Harryman and the children of my Daughter Eleanor Gorsuch that is to say, they shall only have their mothers part of share of my Estate in case she was now living and I do hereby nominate and appoint my son John Bond Executor of this my last will hereby revoking all former will and wills by me heretofore made. In Witness whereof I the said John Bond the Testator to this my last will and Testament have hereunto set my hand and seal this Eight day of December One Thousand Seven hundred and Ninety Two.

Baltimore County to Wit on the 29th day of December 1792 Comes Joshua Jones, William Lynch and Thomas Deye Kelly, Subscribing Evidences to the aforegoing last Will and Testament of John Bond late of said County deceased made Oath [mark] t hat they did see the testator sign and seal this will that they heard him publish & pronounce and declare the same to be his Last Will and Testament that at the time of his sodoing (sic) he was to the best of his apprehensions of sound disposing mind memory and understanding that they subscribed their names as witnesses to this will in his presence at his request and in the presence of Each other. Sworn before me Register of Wills for Baltimore County.
