Derr Family Bible

The Family Bible of John W. Derr (1 Oct 1789-16 Oct 1872) and Elizabeth Miller (25 Mar 1795-3 Apr 1875)

This Family Bible was found by the present owner at his grandmother's house in Howard County and was believed to have been left behind by a boarder. This is a Frederick County family, the Bible records the marriage of John W Derr and Elizabeth Miller on 7 April 1814. A marriage license was issued in Frederick Co., to John Derr and Elizabeth Miller on 2 April 1814. John W Derr appears in the 1850 census of Fredericktown, Frederick Co., MD age 60 living with his son, Wm H Derr, and wife, Julia Hedges (Wm H Derr and Julian R Hedges Frederick Co., marriage license was dated 26 Jan 1847). The 1850 census entry reads:

May 21, 1894 date on obituary clipped from a newspaper: May 21st at the residence of her sister, Mrs. Jesse R Nyman, at Chevy Chase, Md a suburb of Washington City. Miss HENRIETTA MILLER daughter of the late Henry and Susannah Miller aged 80 years 2 months, an 28 days, interment yesterday at Boonsboro May 19th near the Reno monument on South Mountain, David infant son of Mr and Mrs Jerome Paffinberger aged 10 mos.
