In the name of God Amen. I William Manaka of Anne Arundel County and state of maryland being of sound disparing mind, memory and understanding do make and declare this my last will and testament hereby annulling and making void all others -
First It is my will and desire that my body be decently intered [sic] at the discretion of my Executor -
Secondly all my Just debts and the necessary funeral expenses shall be paid -
Thirdly I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Ann one negro women named Jude to her and her heirs forever -
Fourthly I give and bequeath to my son John Loyd one negro boy named Jem to him and his heirs forever -
Fifthly I give and bequeath to my son Reuben one negro girl named Hannah to him and his heirs forever -
Sixthly I give and bequeath to my son Joseph one negro boy named Ned to him and his heirs forever -
Seventhly after my just debts are paid all the money remaining I will and bequeath to be equally divided between my above named children share and share alike -
Eighthly all my personal and real estate not heretofore mentions I will and bequeath to the use of my wife Catherine during her single life at her death or in case she should marry again then the said property shall be equally divided among my said children heretofore mentioned share and share alike -
If either of said children die without issue their share shall be devided [sic] among the other. In testimony where of I here unto set my hand and seal this 30th say of August 1822 and testify this to be my last will and testament revoking all others
Signed Sealed and delivered in our presence as his last will and Testament which we have signed in his presence and at his request Gustavus Warfield John Dorsey Samuel Thomas
Anne Arundel County Set then Came Gustavus Warfield one of the subscri [sic] the 16th say of April 1827
being witness to the aforegoing last will and testament of William Manaka late of said county deceased and
made oath on the holy Evangels of Almighty God that he did see the testator therein named sign and seal
this will and that he heard him publish pronounced and declare the same to be his last will and testament
that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of his apprehension of sound disparing mind memory and
understanding and that he together with John Dorsey and Samuel Thomas the other subscribing witnesses
respectively subscribed their names as witnesses for this will in the presence and at the request of the
testator and all in the presence of Each other.
