Will - John HAWKINS

Dated 20 Jun 1790

In the Name of God, Amen, I, John Hawkins of Ann Arundel County, being weak in Body but of sound and perfect Mind and Memory (Blessed be God) do this Twentieth Day of June Seventeen Hundred and Ninety, make and Publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following viz-
First. I give my Soul to God that gave it me in faith and hope of eternial Life, through the merits of my blessed Saviour Jesus Christ.

Item. I give and Bequeath unto my Son Joseph Hawkins his Heirs and assigns, One Hundred Acres of Land lying in Baltimore County whereon he now lives, to be laid off by my Executor out of a Tract of Land called Peach Brandy Forest to include his Dwelling House and other improvements contiguous thereto in such manner as not to be manifestly injurious to the other remaining part of said Land, and no more, as his full share or portion of my Estate.

--also, I give to my Daughter Priscilla Hudson, one Black Walnut Table--also I give to my Grandson John Mercer One Walnut Table--also to my sons Thomas Hawkins and William Hawkins each the sum of Ten Pounds current money, over and above their equal shares of my Estate to be paid to them their Heirs or assigns by my Executor-- also, I will and direct that the Tract of Land called Eves Dowry (bring part of Adam the First) lyng on E?(lk?) Ridge in Ann Arundel County, and all my Lands in Baltimore County wich is not heretofore sold and contracted for (except the part devised to my son Joseph Hawkins) with all my personal Estate of any kind not before devised, be sold by my Executor on the most advantageous Terms, say on Credit of one, two or three years. Bonds on Interest with approved security to be taken and after the payment of my just Debts, the whole to be equally Divided share and share alike, between my Sons Rezin, Thomas, William, Nicholas, Charles and Caleb Hawkins and my Daughters Priscilla, Ruth and Rebecca to them and each of them, their, Heirs and assigns. and lastly, I make and Ordain my Son in Law Andrew Mercer, Executor of this my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof, I the said John Hawkins, have to this my last Will and Testament, set my hand and fixed my Seal the day and year above written.
