Will - Thomas GASSAWAY

In the name of God Amen Know ye that I THOMAS GASSAWAY of Anne Arundel County in the province of Maryland, being sick and weak in Body but of sound mind and memory, thanks be to God for the same, and calling to mind the Mortality of my body and know it is appointed of all men once to die do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say I recommend my soul to Almighty God that gave it me Trusting in the Merits and Mediation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the remission of all my sins my Body to the grave to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner and as for such worldly goods as it hath pleased God to bestow on me, I give and dispose of as followeth--

It is my will that all my just debts be duly paid.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife SARAH GASSAWAY and her heirs forever all my estate whatsoever that I possess now or shall hereafter at my decease or shall anyways become due unto me both real and personal to hold and enjoy or dispose of them as she or they shall think proper.

Lastly, I do hereby appoint my said wife (SARAH GASSAWAY) whole and sole Executrices of this my last Will and Testament, revoking and disannulling all other wills by me made anytime heretofore. In Witness Wherefore I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Twenty-fifth day of March Anno Domino 1745.

ANTHONY SMITH,
JOHN WATKINS.

On the 28th Day of September, 1745, ANTHONY SMITH and JOHN WATKINS two of the subscribing Witnesses to the within Will being Duly and Solemnly sworn on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God vow that they saw the Testator THOMAS GASSAWAY sign and seal the within Will and heard him publish and declare the same to be his Last Will and Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their judgment and apprehensions of sound and disposing mind and memory and that they together with THOMAS SAPPINGTON the other witness Subscribed their respective names as Witnesses to the said will in the presence of the said Testator and at his request--
