The following is from the Spring 1991 issue of the Letcher Heritage News (Page 8), exactly as it appeared in that issue:

June Term of the Letcher County Court 1871 June 12, 1871. The Will if Henry Back being presented to Court for Probate and the Court having heard sufficient proof the same is ordered to probate. State of Kentucky Letcher County This I Henry Back of the State and County aforesaid do make this my last will and testament in the first place my will is that after my death that all my just debts shall be paid out of the proceeds of my personal property in the second place my will is that ______ Caudill and Henry Back Junior be vested will all the rights to settle my business and to be reasonable paid for their services in the next place my will is that my son David Back have all the land I own on the side of the creek where I now live from the mouth of the Spring Branch up the creek to Stephen Adams line to be his land at the death of my self and my beloved wife in the next place my will is that my son James Back have all the land I own on the Spring Branch from the mouth up the said Branch to Heney Back's line to have and to hold from this date in the next place my will is that my son Samuel Back have all the land I own on the left hand fork of daughty from the first hollow below the Dick hollow on said fork in the next place my will is that Savanah Caudill have fifty dollars to be paid in ______ _____ property to be paid equally by my five sons, Henry Back, John Back, James Back Lewis Back and David Back to be paid at my death in the next place my will is that John Back, Henry Back Lewis Back Isom H. Caudill and Jehu Caudill have all the land I own on the opposite side of the creek from my house where I now live from to Isom H. Caudills ______ up the creek to the mouth of doughty and up said daughty to the first hollow below the Dick hollow on the left hand fork of so daughty including what I own a cross the creek opposite the Big field it to be divided as follows to Isom H. Caudill and Jehu Caudill, one hundred and fifty dollars worth of said land in piece the ballance to be divided between John Back, Henry Back and Lewis Back as ______ theirs to have and to hold from this date in the next place my will is ______ my dauthter Sarah Sunsler have on dollar of my personal estate at my death in the next place my will is that my daughter Rebeca Day one dollar to be paid out of my personal estate at my death in the next place my will is Henry Back and David Back be my guardians to attend to my business as I am wnable to get about in the next place my will is that my son John Back have the twenty five acres of land where he now lives and that he the said John Back pay no more for it than what he has paid in witness I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 7 day of March 1871. Henry Back In obedience to the order of Court at the _____ foregoing will being duly _____ is entered for Probate this 10 day of June 1871 Ezekiel Brashear
