Willis Lindsey Watkins

Willis Lindsey Watkins was born about 1823 somewhere in Kentucky, his parentage is unknown at this time.  Willis married first, Susan Stivers about 1839, probably in Henry County,
Kentucky. The couple appears on the 1850 census of Henry County, Kentucky with four of their ten children.  Susan Watkins died on April 23, 1867 leaving Willis with small children
to care for.  Her burial place is unknown.  On October 7, 1867, in Franklin County, Kentucky he married second to Mary Frances Lee, daughter of William Henry and Nancy Chadwick Lee.
Willis and Mary Frances appear on the 1870 census for Shelby County, Kentucky with his two children, Lindsey and George and their son Edmond. Mary Frances would bore Willis another
daughter only a few months before his death.

Willis Lindsey Watkins died on August 17, 1872 and Mary Frances on March 17, 1873.  Both are buried at the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County, Kentucky along with
many other members of the Watkins family.

Children by Susan Stivers Watkins

William Thomas Watkins, was born on December 7, 1840 probably in Henry County, Kentucky and died on
April 5, 1913 in Franklin County, Kentucky. William married Sarah Land on September 7, 1862 in Henry County,
Kentucky. William and Sarah are buried at the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, Franklin County, Kentucky.
Much of the information on the Watkins family came from bible records of this family.
Mary E. Watkins, was born on March 9, 1842 probably in Henry County, Kentucky and died on February 5, 1885.
She  married John Kelly.
Martha J. Watkins, was born on November 23, 1844 probably in Henry County, Kentucky and died on
April 27, 1871 in Franklin County, Kentucky.  Her tombstone in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin

County, Kentucky says, "Martha J. Reeves, wife of S. Reeves".
John W. Watkins. was born on April 9, 1847 probably in Henry County, Kentucky and died June 13, 1913 in
Franklin County, Kentucky.  He married Sibbie E. Christie. 
James W. Watkins, was born on October 17, 1850 in Henry County, Kentucky and died on April 16, 1872.
He married first on August 3, 1869 to Elizabeth Gordon and second on January 9, 1871 to Martha Mitchell.
J.W. Watkins is buried at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, Franklin County, Kentucky.
Charles F. Watkins, was born on July 15, 1853 in Henry County and died on May 21, 1859 in Franklin
County, Kentucky. He is buried in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County, Kentucky.
Henry C. B. Watkins, was born on June 8, 1856 probably in Henry County, Kentucky and died on
June 4, 1859 in Franklin County, Kentucky.  He is buried in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery,
Franklin County, Kentucky.
Lindsey Arnett Watkins, was born on September 3, 1859 in Henry County, Kentucky and died on May 15, 1929
in Franklin County, Kentucky.  He married on Christmas Day 1878 in Franklin County, Kentucky to Margaret
"Maggie" Jane Harrod. The couple are buried at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, Franklin
County, Kentucky.
George A. Watkins, was born on May 20, 1862 and died in Franklin County, Kentucky on
January 1, 1891 and is buried at the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, Franklin County, Kentucky.
Sarah F. Watkins, was born on September 1865.  No further information is known.

Children by Mary Frances Lee Watkins
Edmond Lycurges "Curg" Watkins, was born on August 18, 1868 in Franklin County, Kentucky and died in
Franklin County, Kentucky and died on November 17, 1929.  He is buried at the Lebanon Baptist Church
Cemetery, Franklin County, Kentucky. Edmond married Donna Emma Welch on October 17, 1880 in Franklin
County, Kentucky.
Lucinda E. Watkins, was born on February 21, 1871 in Franklin County, Kentucky and died November 6, 1902 in
Franklin County, Kentucky and is buried in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, Franklin County,
Kentucky.Lucinda married Dominicus Miller on February 27, 1893.
