FRANK J. GARTEN

Frank J. Garten was born on a farm near Lake City, Kansas, Dec. 29th, 1897, and passed away at a Wichita hospital, Oct. 26th, 1927. On April 15th, 1919 he was united in marriage to Arvilla Farley at Pratt, Kans. To this union three children were born: Harold, 7 years old; Robert Dale 5; and Billy Franklin 2. Mr. Garten has lived all his life near this place and is known as a fine clean moral young man who will be greatly missed. When but a boy he united with the Forest City Union Chapel. He was also a member of the Yeoman Lodge. He had been in training at Fort Funston four months when the Armistice was signed.

Besides the wife and children he leaves two sisters and a brother; Mrs. Bert Strickland, of Medicine Lodge; Mrs. John Lynch, of Hugoton, Kans., and Claude Garten of Collinsville, Okla. He was a kind husband and father, and leaves a host of friends to mourn his untimely death. The funeral services were conducted from the Medicine Lodge M. E. church on Friday afternoon, Oct. 28th. Rev. S. A. Chappell, the Methodist pastor conducting the services. Burial was made in Highland cemetery.
