The Surry Lumber Company and the SS&S

"The Surry Lumber Company" by Jack Huber (Virginia Forests, Winter 2000)

The Surry Lumber Company played a big part in Southampton County from the 1880's until 1930.
Here are a few items of interest.

Bob Wellons (in window), the No. 20 and her crew.
No. 20 was built in 1919 by Baldwin. It served as woods engine out of Sedley.
