Biography - Robert McFail Hendry

Robert McFail Hendry was born February 29, 1816 in Liberty County, Ga. He was the son of William and Nancy (McFail) Hendry. He married Martha Ann Carlton, daughter of John and Nancy Ann (Alderman) Carlton of Sampson County, North Carolina.

They moved from Georgia to Marion County, Florida then returned to Thomas County, Ga. Robert bought the John Carlton plantation saw mill and grist mill and lived there for a few years. Next we find him owning a farm in Taylor County, Fl. around 1854 and a minister.

Rev. Robert M. Hendry died August 30, 1888 in Taylor County. Martha Ann Hendry died October 18, 1900 in Taylor County. They are buried in the Hendry Cemetery, located several hundred yards north of Shady Grove on Highway 221 N., 12 miles north of Perry, Florida.
