GEORGE WILLIAM BYRD BIOGRAPHY
The Byrd family of Clewiston begins with George William Byrd, b. 1900 in Graceville, FL and married 8/18/1927 in Panama City to Leah Frame. George William Byrd was the son of Charles Edgar Byrd, (1879-1968, Palatka, FL) and Mollie Bell Baggett. Charles Edgar Byrd was the son of George W. Byrd (1847-1890, Muscogee, GA), and Julia T. Duck (1856-1905), born Muscogee, GA, died in Graceville, FL, the daughter of James Paul Duck and Caroline Elizabeth Smelt Dimon. George William Byrd, the grandfather of Stephanie Monahan, married Leah Frame, who was born 1904 in Oklahoma and died 1980, the daughter of Thomas M. Frame and Irene Elizabeth Tankersley. The couple were faithful memebers of the Clewiston Seventh Day Adventist Church. They resided in the South Bay area, where they raised six children, including a son Eugene William Byrd, who was a casualty of the Korean War. George William Byrd died in 1980. The couple are buried in Ridge Lawn Cemetery in Clewiston. Related family names are: Bell, Bernie, Parish, Sweeney, Leakins and Corneal. Many of George William Byrd's descendants are still living.
