Splinter Leads To Lockjaw Death of Sherman Man, 41

G. H. Downing, 41 years of age, died at a sanitarium in this city Saturday evening from the effects of lockjaw.  Only a few days before he got a splinter in his right thumb, which had to be taken out by a surgeon.  Almost immediately his hand and arm began to swell and indications of tetanus appeared.  He was brought to the city and the serum treatment administered, but the disease had made such rapid strides that it was of no avail.
