Harold Frederick Moore II, best known to everyone as Fred, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 6, 2018.  He was born in Alliance, Ohio June 3, 1945.  Fred grew up in the southeastern part of the United States in Albuquerque, New Mexico, home of the largest Hot Air Balloon "Fiesta."  He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.  His aptitute for technology afforded him a long, successful career with Texas Instruments/MEMC and his love for sharing that knowledge inspired hundreds of students during his 13 years as a computer technology instructor at Grayson County College.
Fred's travels took him northeast to the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, Canada; southwest to Key West, Florida; northwest to Alaska.  Fred and Gwen enjoyed traveling in their RV and spent many summers as volunteers at Treasure Lake RV Resort in Branson, Missouri.  It is no coincidence that his final destination was in complete harmony with the Dawn Patrol for this year's Balloon Fiesta.  These brave pilots ascend into the sky before sunrise to keep watch as they gauge the wind speeds and directions to guide the hundreds of balloons to follow.
Fred is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gwen; his 2 children, Rebecca and Andrew; his niece, Tina; son-in-law, Gary; and daughter-in-law, Terri; 3 grandchildren, Justin, Ashleigh and Samantha; 2 great-grandchildren, Wrangler and Stetson; and great-niece, Journey; and great-nephew, Bryn.
Graveside services were held Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Vittitoe Cemetery, Andy Thompson Rd, Whitewright.  The Celebration of Life followed at Kentucky Town Baptist Church.  Arrangements were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Fred's name to any military veterans' association. - - - Waldo Funeral Home
