Darren Lee Gracy, 52, lost his year-and-a-half battle with cancer on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a hard worker, honest and caring man with a great sense of humor. He was a loving husband, daddy, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and a friend to many and will be forever loved and missed terribly by all those lucky enough to have had him in their lives.
Darren was born February  25, 1961 in Sherman, grew up and graduated from Tom Bean High School in 1979. He married Elizebeth Nell Rankin on October 1, 1994 in Tom Bean. He was a sight director for Douglas Dist. Lone Star store in Van Alstyne for the past 11 years, and previous manager of Piggly Wiggly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse G. Gracy and Patsy L. Gracy and granddaughter, Neriah Raisch.
Left to celebrate his life are his wife of 19 years, Elizebeth Rankin Gracy; four daughters, Brandi Garner and husband Phillip of Sanger; and his grandkids, Triston, Autumn and Gavin, Shanita Raisch and husband Craig of Oklahoma City, and his grandkids, Trance, Eleora, Havella, Azariah, Ivana, and Misty Cranfill of Sherman and his grandkids, Tommy, Michael, Faith and Heaven and his youngest daughter, Candice Cranfill of Sherman; three brothers, Britt Gracy and wife, Michelle of Luella, Joel Gracy of Tom Bean and Cecil Gracy and wife Mali of Sherman. Darren also had numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Darren was a workaholic, but he also had some hobbies that he enjoyed doing. He loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends, and was an avid poker player. He also developed an interest in drag racing with his brother Britt.
Pallbearers will be his three brothers, Britt, Cecil and Joe, best friend Ed Kosanke, son-in-law, Phillip Garner and Craig Raisch.
Family night will be held from 6 -8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 at American Funeral Services at 4312 W. Crawford St., Denison. A short graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 at the Vittitoe Cemetery in Kentucky Town, followed at 11:30 a.m. by a memorial service officiated by his pastor, George Cline at Grace Bible Church, 4670 N. Loy Lake Rd., Sherman, followed by a meal in the fellowship hall.
