William Claude Roberts, aged 26 years, died at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs T.L. Hansard, Sunday afternoon, October 13, 1918.  He arrived here Tuesday, October 1, from Plainview to visit relatives, and a few days thereafter fell victim of influenza which developed into pneumonia.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife and three small children.  His wife, who is visiting her parents at Mangum, Oklahoma, was not able to be at his bedside or to attend the funeral.  He is also survived by his parents, two sisters, and six brothers.
Mr. Roberts was born at Kentuckytown, Texas, December 19, 1892, and moved from that community with his parents to west Texas where he has made his home for the past several years.  He was a member of the Baptist church, and the funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.J. Epting, pastor of the First Baptist Church, assisted by Revs. I.E. Teague and John Skaggs at the Vittitoe Cemetery Monday afternoon.
