Alta Christine Bradbury Salley, 81, passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, in Denton, Texas. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Whitewright, Texas. A private burial will follow at Vittitoe Cemetery in Grayson County, Texas.
Alta Christine was born in Benton, Ark., to the late Thomas Franklin Bradbury and Esther May Pitcock Bradbury. On Feb. 22, 1947, she married Horace Franklin Salley in Benton. Alta was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Carpenter's Chapter, Sherman, Texas. She was a Past Matron and a 50 year member. She was a retired farmer.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Horace Salley; son, Curtis Joe Salley; grandsons, Ronald and Frank Hamm; and eight brothers and sisters.
She is survived by daughters, Vera Fahy Salley, of Denton, and Wera Salley Worthan and husband, Don, of Waco; grandchildren, Paul Hamm, of Irving, Salley Knox, of Gilmer, Jessica Lara, of Denton, and John Knox, of Azle; eight great-grandchildren; many other family members, and numerous friends.
