Mrs. Randolph Roberts Dies in Sherman Sunday  

Mrs. Alice Pope Roberts, wife of Randolph Roberts, died at the family home 1219 East Houston St., Sunday morning at 3:30 o'clock following an illness of several months duration.  Mrs. Roberts' condition had been critical for the past ten days or more, but although not unexpected, her passing come as a shock to a large number of friends.
Mrs. Roberts was a native of this county and had lived all of her life near Whitewright and in Sherman.  She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Pope, pioneer residents of the Whitewright community.  She attended public schools of Whitewright and later Grayson College.  She was married to Mr. Roberts in Sherman on April 1, 1910, while both were living in Whitewright.  Mr. and Mrs. Roberts moved to Sherman about seven years ago and have since lived here, Mr. Roberts engaging in the cotton business.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Roberts is survived by a daughter, Alma Joe 12, and two sons, E.J. Roberts Jr. 17 months and an infant, Randolph Max.  Her mother, 2 brothers and 6 sisters also survive her.  The later are Max Pope, local MKT Agent of Sherman, & Chester Pope of Whitewright, Mrs. R.H. Jay Sherman, Mrs. Robert Gordon Whitewright, Mrs. Will Pemler Greenville, Mrs. Sidney Hudspeth Atoka, Okla., Mrs. M. Montgomery New Mexico and Mrs. Tom Atkins, Lubbock.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Roberts took place from the late home Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock.  Dr. George F. Cuthrell, pastor of Central Christian Church of which Mrs. Roberts was a faithful and devoted member, conducted the services.
After the service at the home, the body was conveyed overland to Kentuckytown Cemetery, southeast of Sherman, where it was laid to rest.  Acting as pallbearers were Spearman Webb, John T. Wakefield, J.N. Fain, R.E. Slagle of Sherman and Guy Hamilton and Lucian LaRoe of Whitewright.
